This is the future, children. There is hardly a difference between AT and MT's in performance, in road-going vehicles. The only palpable difference is the user input and driving dynamics, and even that is starting to lean towards computer controlled cluth-operated transmissions (DSG, SMG, etc). Hell, even true "automatics" like ones produced by ZF for BMW (most notably, in the 335i) are pretty spectacular.
Don't let meat headed fan boyism get in the way of what you want.
That said, I do like my 6MT, as clunky and notchy as it is.
