Bay Area Meet 3-8-03
Bay Area Meet 3-8-03
Wad up Bay Area peeps,
The Meet will be on 3-8-03
Thats along way from now, but just wanna give heads up. Mark up your calendar..
The Meeting place will still goes as planned.
Directions
The only thing is about the drive, still undecided.
So far, I'm leaning towards "Take 84 to 280 to 1 and back to Santa Cruz..were we can chill for some dinner."
I like Nifvr6 idea...
Meet up in Redwood City as planned.
-Head towards 101 N for about 2-3 miles.
-Take 92 West
-Jump on Skyline Blvd (Highway 35) and head south towards Santa Cruz...this is a nice windy roady.
-we can continue heading south on Hwy 35 towards Santa Cruz as you mentioned.
-we can get some grub in Santa Cruz if we are hungry or we can take a break and chill for a bit
-Next we can start heading north...head West on 84 or whatever way it's best to get to Hwy 1 and than head back to Redwood City...maybe end up getting dinner when we get back in Redwood City.
Basically, 101 - 92 - 35 - 84 - 1 - 92 - 101
Will Post Map once closer too the date...
Let me know what you all think..

Re: Bay Area Meet 3-8-03
Just something to consider...I drove Option 2 this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day and I guess everybody had the same idea because it was very slow going on 92 (past 280) all the way up to highway 1. I'm talking crawling speed in the twisties.

Re: Bay Area Meet 3-8-03
dyenboy,
84 was pretty clear. Not a whole lot of traffic.
There was one CHP unit camping out midway to 35, but probably there to catch speeders (usually bikers) going downhill. Since I was going uphill and near the speed limit, wasn't really a concern for me.
Got stuck behind a couple of cars and was tempted to get off and wait a while, but since I've never been on that part of 84 before, decided to just enjoy the drive.

Re: Bay Area Meet 3-8-03
dyenboy,
yep, plenty of twisties on 84, the short kind where you're constantly moving your steering wheel. Going the opposite direction, I never really exceeded 40mph. Be aware that this new route means that you'll be going downhill on 84 at the point where I saw that CHP camped out, making it a speed trap. Just be on the lookout for him on the left-hand side.
Since I haven't been on Skyline yet, can't tell ya what to expect for that portion.
I'm going to try to make it out, but there's more than a good chance that I'm going to have to work. Have a good run if I don't see ya!
