my cousin has a bone stock g35 coupe auto and he took his car to the track, about a month ago, he has about 18,000 miles on it, and has only gotten one oil change and that was at 3000 miles.. he did a best time of a 14.3 at 99 mph.. his best 60 ft for the day on stock rubber is a 2.18.. with only getting that one oil change, about 15,000 miles ago. now that he got an oil change he should run actualy alot better right? like maybe a 14.1 stock?. its a leased car so he really doesnt keep up on the oil changes only the outside of the car.. he says it feels alot stronger now since he got the oil change.. let me know what u guys think. same day i ran my 04 maxima se auto bone stock to a 14.4 at 96 mph

 

18,000 miles and one oil change? Wow, I don't envy the guy who will buy his car after the lease is over.
It should run a lot better after the oil change. Poor car must be happier after it received an oil change.

Theoretically the oil change should help, but the margin of that effect should not be significant. 14.3 is a decent 1/4 time though.

Changing the oil will probably not improve the G's time by more than 0.1 seconds if he takes it straight to the track. Later on, however, he stands to see far more substantial performance improvements. You can estimate the gains by subtracting 14 seconds from whatever length of time it would normally take him to get out and push a 3500 pound object for a quarter of a mile.

ouch!!! I feel down right guilty if I go even 1 mile over 3,000 on my car.....my last car had 42,500 miles and 16 oil changes in that time...but to each his own I guess...I don't think I would do that even if it was a lease...wouldn't he still be responsible if the motor ran dry or siezed????? just doesn't make much sense to try and make a car unreliable....2old4this

Sounds like he's running about the times he should be running. Oil change might shave off .1 off his time since his oil was 15k overdue. My oil was pretty dark at 4k miles with synthetic, his must have been like molassas.

 

Guys I think he's irresponsible too but.... One possiblity is that he is running Synthetic in the car. That would allow him to extend is oil changes somewhat. Some MFR's like Porsche run Synthetic and tell their customers they can go on longer intervals without a change. It's still too long to go even with Synth in my opinion. I run M1 and go for a change every 5-6K miles. My dealer is always giving me crap over it and I'm sure money has nothing to do with it. [img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img] Of course the numbers don't lie about the amount of boneheads in the world and most likely he is just one of them.
