Impul Replica Group-Buy Concerns
After helping a friend Install his factory Impul rear spoiler this weekend I have some concerns...
You may want to check with your sources that are molding the Fiberglass replica. If they're taking the mold directly from the Impul (which I think they would) then the radius of the spoiler WILL NOT match the radius or back edge of the trunk lid. When I helped "CHOPS" install his Factory Impul lip spoiler this past Saturday, we first found the exact center of the spoiler and lined it up with the back edge of the trunk lid. We discovered that we had to pull the ends (Left & Right Side) back between ONE & ONE and A HALF INCHES to line up with the outer edge of the trunk lid! Hopefully they will dry fit the replica before they release them for the group buy. I don't think Fiberglass will flex that much. This is a concern to me, because I am also Interested in the Group Buy...

Re: Impul Replica Group-Buy Concerns
RugRat, I've been looking at some of the photos of other installs of the impul spoiler. The two installs I've looked at have the spoiler 1 to 2" away from the edge of the trunk, and the two side pieces are above the tail-light lenses (not covering them). Look at the photo below (if I can get it to import).
If you install the spoiler that way, you probably wouldn't need to bend it.
IMHO, the way you installed it will look better! But you could only do it with a urethane version, because of the bending.
I'm painting an M3 lip spoiler right now, and ran into the same issue. I've decided to do like you, and put it right at the edge of the trunk. I'll need to bend it about 3/8" at the ends to do this.

Re: Impul Replica Group-Buy Concerns
If the middle piece (the long one) is made a little longer then it should work fine. The way we installed it was the only way that we could keep the gap between the two spoilers uniform with the trunk to 1/4 panel gap.
I guess it up to individual taste as to where you want the spoiler placed.
Here is mine!

Re: Impul Replica Group-Buy Concerns
RugRat, have you been in contact with other owners that have installed the impul spoiler? Did they run into the same problem? The mold will be directly from the Impul kit. No variations that I am aware of. Is it possible to embed the pictures in this thread? I am not a member of that website you linked to, so I can't view the images to see if there is a difference between that install and what others have done.

Re: Impul Replica Group-Buy Concerns
Here is a couple more shots.
I would like to see some other installs. I could have had a short mid piece, who knows?
I do like the way it turned out.
btw, I am not knocking a group buy, I think that it would be great to be able to get this spoiler for less than the rather steep price that impul is asking.
Anyway, I hope this helps.

Re: Impul Replica Group-Buy Concerns
I've seen the actual Impul spoiler too installed and those buying the fiberglass version should beware. The price may be good but you may be disappointed after spending another $100 or more for paint. Like rugrat said, the spoiler does not follow the arc of the trunk and needs to be flexed a bit to fit just right. Lengthening is not an option either b/c that limits the arc of the spoiler and it will be more curved than the trunk.Just be careful, I have a feeling that there will be alot of disappinted people.

Re: Impul Replica Group-Buy Concerns
one option could be offered is that the wing is made in POLY Fiber (PFRP) it is a new material that has been used by many companies such as c-west and Ings+1. it is made the same way a fiberglass piece would be made but has flexibility similar to urethane. this new material will become the standard for fiberglass in the near future.
