There have been occasional posts about the ventilation system having a mind of its own - and some for good reason!

Recently I have noticed that when it is cold in the morning and I have the heat on with the "mode" switched to the floor vents only - I notice cold air still coming in from the extreme left and right side upper vents. Is that normal?? Why would any air be coming from those vents if they are not selected??

Also when it warms up and I switch the mode from the floor vents to the upper vents, to get some fresh cool air, the A/C compressor comes on automatically. Why? I'm still in manual mode at this point not "auto" mode. Seems odd!!

Re: Vents Revisited
don't if this is your problem, but end of the summer, someone posted that there isn't a perfect seal between car compartment and engine. so cold air in winter, hot in summer can come in. search. they explained how to seal.
