Closing the acceleration gap?

Re: Closing the acceleration gap?
I tried really I did but I also got lost on that explanation.
What he is trying to explain is that once an object gathers momentum all it needs is the energy from behind to pick up speed faster rather than both front and rear wheels trying to push an object at the same time, thus rear wheels drive cars tend to catch up at higher speeds.
If that doesn't work then get a smaller fridge and push it by yourself

Re: Closing the acceleration gap?
Hrmm, for some reason I feel that that refrigerator thing is fundamentally flawed when it comes to cars. First off, if you are moving a fridge, OF COURSE it's going to be easier with your friend's help. If you were pushing with 20N of force and your friend pulls with 20N of force. It's easier because your friend is adding extra power. AWD does not add extra power but rather distributes it. Let's say you have a fridge on a set of four wheels. Having your friend push or pull would not matter would it? Second, you say that even when the fridge is "rolling" it would be easier to move it with the help of your friend. Well, it would always be easier to move a fridge with someone's help now wouldn't it? Also, I don't believe traction is an issue when it comes to pushing fridges.
AWDs biggest advantage is in the launch. From any other point on, a RWD car will have an advantage (since grip is no longer an issue). Think about it this way. We have two cars which have the same torque band. One has AWD and the other has RWD. The AWD car has 100ft/lbs to the front and 100ft/lbs to the rear. The RWD car has 215ft/lbs to the rear wheels. Under full acceleration, there is no loss of traction in either car. Which would be faster?
BTW, although less practical, try checking out 20-80 times when you drop the clutch. Perhaps it would be a bit different. I don't know much about the G35. I do know that the RX-8 posts faster 0-60 times than 5-60 times though.

Re: Closing the acceleration gap?
I understand the analogy...
He's basically saying it would be easier to move with two people, because your friend would be eating the food in the refrigerator while you are pushing, thus making the fridge lighter, and getting a better acceleration out of your push. The eating would be the same as adding a lighter exhaust, headers, hood/trunk, etc. Haha....
Lemme know if i'm right
