I'm considering buying an '07 G37 coupe, but I live in Illinois and have a steep driveway. Anyone know how it'll do in the snow? I'd hate to get it and then not be able to make it up the driveway after a heavy snow!

 

No such thing as an 07 G37, G37 is an 08 Model. Regardless, the G37 will perform the same as a G35 in the snow, its basically the same car. What it comes down to, is tires. A G35/G37 will not get far at all on summer tires, but if you slap on some snow tires, the G will be great in the snow, granted you are easy and smooth on the throttle, in and out of turns.

 

Snow tires a must. Depending on how steep your driveway is and the amount of snow you still might have trouble getting up but shouldn't be more than with any other car. The only way you might not have a problem is if you get all wheel drive. I love RWD, I got the snow tires and this car could be a lot of fun in the winter if you drive safe.

 

i use to leave in menessota and i have a rwd car. even tho u have a snow tires if u dont know how to controll ur car it will be bad. u just got to be careful when u turn when get snow coz u can fishtail easy. ( but its has unti slip) u dont have to worry. that car is awsome..... u should be ok going up to ur driveway ( as long as ders no black ice).

 

Must have snow tires. Doesn't matter if it is a G or any other performance RWD coupe.


Don't bother driving in the snow without them and don't be surprised if you end up stuck or in a snow bank if you don't listen the expert opinions in this thread!

 

I got stuck in the snow with practically new summer tires (2000miles). On about a .5 degree grade. It was bloody ridiculous I was able to back it into some strangers driveway but not before angering several M@ssh0le drivers.

On that note don't bother driving a FWD car with summer tires on. The same thing happens, I know.

The G37 weighs in a good bit more then the G35. So depending on where the location of that extra weight is could make the snow better or worse.

 

You're right Gword. FWD with summer tires turns your car into a snowplow and is no better than RWD! I too have been there in my Acura CLS.

 

Dude, wtf do you expect driving with summer tires? Do you understand that there are much different rubber compounds that make a summer tire different vs a winter tire? The compound of a winter tire is much different than that of a summer tire, hence it will give you MUCH better traction. Also, the tread pattern on a winter tires is completely different than that of a summer tire........and guess what? It's for a reason.
