TIPTRONIC

Someone said that Tiptronic or Manual Auto is .5 seconds slower than regular driving? Is this the truth? I thought it increased time alittle....

Re: TIPTRONIC

If thats so I haven't mastered it yet? I do two things with the manual mode. I bad weather I start in 2nd gear, or I down shift to pass.

Re: TIPTRONIC

n that is compleatly wrong... most people have found that the Tiptronic mode is faster then full auto mode. .5 seconds is probaly to much but you can probaly get a .2 second difference. though that statement holds true for most other cars but for what ever reson perhaps bad tunning on nissans part on auto mode, the tiptronic mode is slightly faster then full auto. Most people have found this on the track.

Re: TIPTRONIC

How do you start in 2nd gear in the manual mode? Mine always drops down to 1st when I stop and go to pull away again.

Re: TIPTRONIC

I'd be interested to see some hard core numbers on this. I hated the auto on the sedan loaner I drove for a week. (I have a 6-spd Coupe). Seemed like even if you put it in manual mode, the damn thing still controlled and shifted whenever it wanted to. Under WOT, the car is still going to run to redline and shift, run to redline and shift, regardless of manual mode or not.

I'm not saying anybody is wrong here, I'm just skeptical that either one would provide any hard-core advantage. Just seems to me, that manual mode is useless, and it's only purpose is to add some sort of sporty appeal.

Re: TIPTRONIC

The auto on the Coupe will hold the gear, and will not upshift for you, like it does in the sedan.

Re: TIPTRONIC

There is a big difference in the auto mode in the sedan and the coupe in that the shifts in MM mode in the sedan will only allow you to chose top gear. The shifts in the coupe in MM mode will allow you to chose a gear "real time". The shifts, to me, feel more direct in the coupe when upshifting.

You can't chose to take off from a stand still in 2nd. You may, however after your car begins to roll at @ 5 MPH, chose 2nd gear.

Re: TIPTRONIC

I'll take a slight exception to that, since I have only 1 arm
