6mt BREMBO brakes Grinding @22k

Im getting a slitght grinding from the front passenger side brake. I dont brake hard if anything I downshift more than I do brake. I dont expect these things to be almost shot with 22k on them. I know that there was a recall on the AT brakes but never heard anything about the BREMBOS. I'll probably be going to the dealer tomorrow to have it checked out cause the last thing I want to do is burn through my rotors on a practically new car. Anyone else having trouble? Worst thing is I have a set of 20's comming next week! Bad timing to have to deal with this but on the bright side at least the rims arent on for infiniti to blame.

Please advise how this turns out for you since it affects all of us with these Brembos... I only have 9,400 miles and have no problems like that. Just some squeaking every now and then. Less so than when the car was new though.

We have to change the DISCS everytime?!

I don't know about the normal OEM replacements, but the nicer drilled rotors on the Brembo website (for our coupes) are like $430 a piece.

that doesn't make sense. i thought the worst case is you have to resurface the rotor. I was told by mechanic that the rotor only need to resurface every other pad replacement. Unless the rotor have uneven surface. someone correct me if i am wrong.

YES, tell us how this goes, mine are squeeking every so slightly every once in a while... I don't really want to have to change rotors just to get new pads for my brembo's... that's a crock of shizt.

The recall letter states that Brembos are not included in the warranty. since you are at 22k, you are most likely down to the rivets which might need replacing if you wore it down enough.

They can be resurfaced but will not be done if the gouge is too deep.

Get your pads replaced asap to save your rotors. I plan to resurface my rotors on the 2nd pad change.

I needed to replace all of my Brembo pads (almost down to indicators) at my 30K service (actually closer to 31K). The dealer installed the new Hawk HPS pads and resurfaced my rotors. Probably next time I replace the pads I'm going to get Brembo crossdrilled rotors installed (not necessary though). They are $737 from TireRack for all four.

The other high mileage coupe I've seen got 34K on the original pads but I wouldn't be surprised if it's time for you to get some new pads.

Re: 6mt BREMBO brakes Grinding @22k

I had to get new pads and machine the rotors at around 19K...they don't last very long...and I, like you, downshift as well.

They weren't available when I had to replace my pads back in October...but I am going to do it on my next replacement...get the EBC Greenstuff pads...they produce almost no carbon so you don't have to keep cleaning your wheels...as far as I've heard there has been very good feedback about those pads...and I believe they're cheaper as well...input anyone...???

I've got 30k (including one track day) on my oem Brembo pads, and they're still good to go.

Re: 6mt BREMBO brakes Grinding @22k

Ok I took her to the dealer and told them about it and they said it could be brake dust caked under the pad. I made an appt for monday in case it doesn't go away then went to one of those do it yourself carwashes. I used the High pressure rinse and blasted teh rotor and under the pads as good as I could. I havent driven it too much since but I think the noise might be gone. Ill keep everybody posted. the guy at the dealership said I still have plenty of meat on the pads so we'll see how it goes over the weekend.

I think it's safe to say that the problem is solved. No unusual noises after the pressure washing. So if anyone has a slight grinding wash down the rotors and pads and it should go away. Now it's on to bigger and better......rims!

I'm just stoked that you guys are getting 25K+ miles on the brakes.. I was worried I would have to change them soon, and I can't really or want to afford that right now.
