I don't know ...maybe its just me...but:
I'm driving last night on the Garden State Parkway here in good ol' New Jersey,,,, I guess its around 10pm...
I'm minding my own business, just want to get home,,,
I notice in my mirror a pair of bright white headlights speeding up behind me. He's flashing his highs at everybody..zig zaging back and forth from lane to lane....He's in a big hurry!
problem is....he's not going anywhere......the flow of traffic on a Saturday night is not your usual commuters...
So anyway....he finally blows past me and gets a couple car lengths ahead....so I move out of the left lane to go around a slower car and start to catch up to this guy....not in an aggressive or even a slight way you would think I'm looking for a go at him.......I get along side of him doing about 75mph and slowly start to inch a little ahead....well...that was it for him!! I see him put his high beams back on ....I hear him punch his car and proceeds to almost run right in to the back of a slower car,,,only to swerve into another lane and almost clip a slower car in front of him.....Geez...are we that much of a threat to the egos of these Acura people that this is the reaction when a G is around....this really made me laugh...
at 52...my days of racing around on a Saturday night is for the most part non-existent....so for all you young guys in these beautiful G coupes and Sedans...more power to ya...but if you happen to run into a dark blue Acura TL slightly lowered...with an addiction to give everyone the high beams and ride there A$$ just look over and smile....he must have a complex about the infiniti G35 Coupe....I don't condone street racing or anything that would danger by standers...but if I was a few years younger.........Oh he would of had a run for his money!!!!!!!! just curious if this happens with everyone else or was this an isolated case of somebody just dying to stay head on a pretty conjested highway....NO WONDER my friggin insurance in this state is so HIGH!!!! Same thing happened to me last night with a guy in a late 80s Mustang. He would pace me and then punch it to move up a couple of car lengths, then pace again, etc. He even did the same thing to an older (60s or more) couple in a 745 BMW.

one of TL guy actually was really interest in my 6mt when I was driving down on highway. We exchanged thumbs up and went our ways.
Yeah there are some weird drivers and I bet people think I am a jerk because I am sometimes like that TL driver you faced. It's all about the condition I am in. =D

i know what you mean, the other day a guy in a supra was trying to race me. im just trying to relax after work and go home. but this aint nothing. i used to have a 99 corvette. every damn fool in a civic would want to race me. at a light, i would give them a 2 car length head start. and then punch it, and it was all over quick and painless.

 

Maybe he was drunk. I don't want to generalize, but ever since I started driving the G, Acura owners do seem to be an aggressive bunch and I usually find one riding my *** around town.

There are too many damn Gs around this area of Jersey!!! *sigh*

 

I know how you feel.. It seems as though everybody wants to race now that I have a G... but my license is on probation so i ain't racing for [censored] (1 speeding ticket and 1 right on red). On my way back from new york, on the GWB no less, some guy in a Murano tried to race me.. then when he left, a guy in a civic tried to race me. Then when i went onto Route 17, a guy in a Cobra tried to race me and finally when i got onto my street, a guy in an RSX Type S tried to race me... and this is all in one night!

I think it's a select group of TL drivers. About 3 weeks ago, I saw a TL (not the new ones) that had aftermarket rims and might have been lowered. It was silver, but the tints were so dark that I couldn't even see through the windows. I approached it from behind on the left lane over, and noticed no Type S badging, but could tell some aftermarket work had been done to it. As soon as I catch up to it, I glance over to try to see the driver, and after a few seconds, the guy(or gal?) guns the engine. We were going only 65-70mph, I was in fourth and I let my baby growl (stepped on the gas). I caught up at 95mph, and we both slow down cuz of more traffic coming up, then the car slows down and proceeds to ride my *** for like 5 minutes before he gets off at an exit. Perhaps he was admiring the LED's. =P

I go to college at Adelphi University in Garden City, and I go there on Mondays and come home Thursdays (I'm there for the week), and I go to NYC on the week-ends, so basically I do a lot of NJ-NY driving and I RARELY get anyone who wants to race me. I see quite a few people checking out my car while I'm driivng, but none want to race.
As for the TL driver, I wouldn't hold it against all TL drivers...the driver was probably just excited or something. Hell, we all get unnecessarily aggressive on the streets once in a while.

I live in manhattan and drive mostly out to the 'burbs on weekends. I've had my 6MT coupe for almost 8 months and have only felt myself being challenged to a race on two or three occasions, none of which I responded to. A WRX with a huge wing at night on a narrow, winding, hilly, unlit, tree-lined highway (yeah right we're gonna race there, death wish-boy) a Mustang with a lot of custom parts on a local street one afternoon in New Rochelle, and...can't remember any others...

 

Sounds like the driver of the TL was an @$$hole, but you shouldn't generalize about TL owners. My brother owns a CL and I have been to a couple of meets with him. The CL/TL owners I met were a group of very nice guys. I know that some of the CL/TL guys are trading in for Z's or G's, but they all still stay in touch. Pretty cool I think.

 

I get the same from the older TL/CL model drivers. Most drivers of the new TL I've run into are older, and hold back the traffic driving slow in the left lane

I'm sure they talk about us as well on the other forums..
But IMO this is not the first time with the older model year TL 3 People...
I just wanted to relate my story with you all and from your feedback many are in agreement...(not only for the TL people mind you once again)....If I offended anyone I once again apologize....

The new TL owners are *******s (excuse my language) . Read the acura-tl.com forum. They are always bad mouthing the G35, and thinking the TL is gods chariot.

 

I always go on the acura-tl website since i am a former TL driver. They are a very friendly group. There are only a select few people who talk crap just like people on this website who talk crap about the 04 tl. Face it, in every forum there is an '[censored]' who talks crap.
