Doors locking while getting gas??

Anybody find that the car doors are locking while getting gas? Fortuantely I have my keys in hand to double click the keyfob, then pop the gas lid open. Just strange.....

i have that problem, but not only with the doors. it seems to pick-up the sensor whenever it feels like it. sometimes i can be standing outside like an idiot for 5 minutes clicking the button on the door and it doesn't open until i use the remote

If you unlock the doors with the key fob and then don't open the actual doors it will lock automatically after like 30 seconds

Security???

I guess that makes sense to lock the doors since you should have the keyfob in hand whether inside the car or not. Thanks... missed that one in the manual

that doesn't make sense though. so you get out of your car to get gas, your driver door at least is unlocked. then you go and pump gas, and the door(s) now lock themselves? the security setup only works if your door is locked and then unlocked with the fob. it doesn't work if it is already unlocked. so maybe you actually locked the car when you got out of the car to pump gas, and then used the fob to unlock again?

I have an 04..not sure if you are talking about keyless entry (i dont have)...when I hit the fob once it just unlocks my driver door and will not lock automatically...it stays open...so if i forget to hit the fob again to lock it, it will STAY unlocked..

Happens to me. but i dont have an I-key. I press the unlock button so i can pop open the lid, which should at the same time

unlock the door. i put my gas then when im done and i walk back to the other side the door is locked. oh well, i

see it as a good thing, because if i were to ever forget to lock my doors (never in a million years) it would lock itself

There you go, if you dont open your door after unlocking it, it will lock itself. I bet the timer starts up again when you hit the unlock after opening and closing the door. That would explain why it locks itself again and does make some sense incase you hit the unlock thinking it was the lock. Someone give it a try.

the only time it will auto lock is if u do this..

u lock the doors on your car... u now press unlock. if neither door is opened for a set period of time .. the doors will now auto lock.

this is the only scenario that i know of where this happens. if u come to a gas station... kill your ignition and simply get out to pump your gas.. the doors shouldn't be spontaneously locking on their own.

And they shouldn't auto lock b/c you have opened the door in getting out to pump gas.

My wife has a 01 VW Jetta that always did what was said above (normal). Now it will auto lock in 30 sec and set alarm even with the door left open (not normal)
Out of warranty and Dealer wants ~$300+ to fix. Not.

Take to Dealer if still under warranty.

It wouldn't happen if you left the keys in the ignition, whether the car was running, on acc mode, or off. Dun Wurry

I've had the door lock while I was working on mods with the keys in the ignition. I'm sure I must have done something on the way out of the car because it has happened a few times, but only as I got out of the car. Now I always leave the window down if I'm going to leave the keys inside.

It happens to me but I press the unlock key on my remote after I get out of the car to open the gas lid.
