(sorry, this may be long)

After putting a deposit on a 6MT coupe about 2 weeks ago, the following has happened:

- Dealer can not locate the car I want
- I'm hearing 'wait until 05's interior changes come out'
- My 'dream car' that everyone is looking for is a 6MT/Prem/Nav/Spash no Aero in DG (or BS). If I get the aero, it may be easier to locate one
- Right now I'm driving a Miata, which will sell MUCH easier with the Spring coming then if I wait until the 05's come out and have to sell it in the fall

SO:

1) Are the 05 changes really worth waiting for?
2) When do yo think the 05's will be ready to buy?
3) What would you do? Wait and lose value on the Miata, or move to sell it now? I have it in 2 publications, so if I get a good offer, I'll be hard pressed to not take the $$$, say 'yes' to the aero package and look to be in a G ASAP.

I'm in a pickle. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

 

1. no one knows yet. interior changes are speculation.
2. just a guess........you could probably ORDER one in 2nd half of this year. On lots in the 4th quarter
3. you answered your own question. If you get a good price now, take it. If not wait.

Why cant you just order the car exactly as you want, and wait the 3 or so months for the build of it?

The dealer didn't give this option. I guess I could, but then I'd have to wait the three months, and sit on my car until then since I can't go that long with no ride should I get a good offer now.

I ordered my car from the manuf...it is suppose to arrive in 2 1/2 weeks...It will be a total of 4 months waiting for my new arrival into our family...I will assure you that the 4 months has gone fast...but not fast enough (I am driving a Toyota 4-runner with 140 pony's) what if you wait till the 2005's come out..that means they stop making the 2004's and you REALLY liked the 2004's...then your "poop out of luck" and would not get the interior or options you really want
As for your car, if you can sell your car now...do it. I am still sitting on my 3000GT...I have many calls, but no one seems to be offering a price, so I have a feeling that when the spring rolls around, I will get offers...keep that in mind.

When it comes to cars, there is the financial decision as well as the I want it now situation. Been there, done that and understand what you are going through. Since buying and selling is market driven, I would advise you to sell your Miata when you can get the best price and a better chance to sell it. In regards to the G, it is very doubtful that the changes would be that great to justify denying yourself. If we were talking a new turbo model or a whole new design then I could understand the wait. So hope that helps.

I spoke to the dealer (after getting another $500 off, but that's another story), and basically told him if he can find the exact car I want, I'll take it (and have 2 cars until I sell the Mazda). If I sell my car before that, I'll add in the aero package to make it easier to locate one.

Either way I guess I'm happy. I get my G earlier, or I make more $$$ on my car. I just hope I change my opinion on the rear wing if I wind up getting it. =(

 

UPDATE:

Just sold my Miata for $7,400, which was a fair price for both parties.

Now I have to HOPE that my dealer can find a car for me in the next couple weeks.

Man, I hope he can get one without the rear spoiler. We'll see...
