GOT A COLD LOOK FROM A G-COUPE
Re: GOT A COLD LOOK FROM A G-COUPE
There's only one other G in my town and its always in the garage never driven. Heck, when people look at my car its usually to make sure they didn't just have a spaceship land next to them. And when they do see it, they appear as if a bad smell just came across their noses. Not a lot of people here who even know what an Infiniti is let alone what kind I have. Girl at the bank who gave the loan didn't know what it was.. ugg..

What the hell does working for your car have to do with waving back at someone in a similar make/model car? It really is not that big a deal if the person in another car doesn't acknowledge you if you wave at them. Our main concern on the road should be driving and concentrating on the safety of other drivers on the road and the safety of pedestrians. Although I always smile back when someone waves to me, I do not find it necessary to do so. In fact, it is pretty weird. You don't know what the other person really has in mind. When I was renting a ptcruiser in baltimore for an internship, some guy stopped me in a dangerous part of town and leaned out the window to chat with me. Of course I happily had a few kind words with him at the light, when it turned green, I left and he was upsest. Great. Don't think too much about it guys. Even if someone gives you the middle finger, just try not to let it bother you. People's safety are at hand here. No need for road rage or a lack of concentration.
THANK YOU! PERFECT RESPONSE!

I'm with you guys on the "G Pride" stuff, but seriously...some people just consider it a car, not EVERYONE is an "enthusiast". Not everyone feels the same way you do. Some people might think you're "WEIRD". Some might think you're crazy and are about to attack them or something.
Does every riced out civic greet a plain civic? Does every Corvette owner greet every other Corvette owner?
I mean, it's nice to aknowledge (and to be aknowledged), but don't let it get you down if you're ignored or "stared at". And stop being so SHOCKED. It's life, it's less personal, it's time to get over it. You can't and won't change people, and not everyone has to be nice to you.

I don't even bother thumps up if I don't see clear corner.
I'v tried couple times with other drivers in MD area, and that cold "What planet r u from"!!!?" kind of look back. after that if I don't see clear corners it's just waste of time waving at other G drivers.

Yeah, I conduct all my rapes at 55 to 65 mph, and I single out people that drive the same (still rare) car as me. Come ON!
Who give's a $hit if this post has been done before?
As to the PT Cruiser guy, yeah that would be scary! Your driving a PTCruiser, that guy likely thought you were gay, and wanted some. (Its the type of people that car responds to!)
Your prob. that type of person that speeds off after a nod or a thumbs up! Its not like we are harrasing the person. A quick nod and its over....
If it takes that kind of concentration to drive, then you should't be driving!
What do you all think?

Re: GOT A COLD LOOK FROM A G-COUPE
I live in NJ and I have a black G35 Coupe and I get terrible responses from other G35C owners. I don't ask for much...a wave a thumbs up, a flash of the high-beams....anything! Instead, other G Coupe owners just look at me like, "Wtf do you want?" NJ is flooded with "new money" people and they don't know how to handle their attitudes at all...or they act like they're just too busy to take a split second to at least smile back at me or SOMETHING.
Anyways...I live in Northern NJ (Bergen County) and I have a black G35C license plate PGR 58P...to other NJ G owners on the board...if you see me on the road, then give me a wave or a thumbs up, I'll be sure to give you one back. =)

Re: GOT A COLD LOOK FROM A G-COUPE
The resentment by some owners of the same vehicle can be;
1. They're mad they aren't the only ones with that car.
2. They are insecure, and think that others are not as worthy.
a. They see someone in the same car, they then can not act like they are of better stature.$$$$
3. They are embarrassed by the attention, and truly don't care much or know much about their car, using it only for transport.(less so as a status symbol)

4. I'm trying to get home from a hard day, and I didn't realize you're being nice to me. By the time i figured this out, you already think i'm an a-hole.
5. I'm pissed off about something and I wouldn't even respond to my own mother, what makes you think I will aknowledge you?
6. I don't know you. And I don't have to. We share a common car, but we don't share the same feeling, don't make me less of a person because of that.
MANY possibilities.

Re: GOT A COLD LOOK FROM A G-COUPE
Mozy - just FYI....99.9% of corvette owners will wave back....the "corvette wave" has been common practice since the car was introduced. I can honestly say every person I've ever waved at from the driver seat of a Corvette (I've driven two, my fathers old ZR-1 that he had back in the early 90's and my ex girlfriends fathers 03 Z06) has waved back, nodded or in some way responded. Hell, on route 18, people sitck their entire arms out the windows of their vettes in opposite traffic just to make sure you see each other.
Vettes have a long line of heritage behind them, drivers of this car understand this fact, and have the utmost respect for each other and each others cars.
Most of the people who see me in a G35 resent the fact that I'm driving the car. I'm 21, but look 16, and it causes alot of "traffic light conversations" so to speak. The only G thats actually waved back to me is a guy who lives down the road from me with a base coupe, I think Ive even talked him into going back for an 04 or 05 6MT premium to replace his 5AT with the 17's.
The point Im trying to make is, this is a brand new car. Theres is no "History" or "heritage" behind it. People dont truly know what this car is about when they get it. Most see it as a nice luxury coupe to drive to work in that will never even see above 4000 RPMS for more than one gear in a row. Give it a few years, let the car find its true following so to speak, then we can rename the famous left hand slightly up off the steering wheel wave to the "G wave"

Re: GOT A COLD LOOK FROM A G-COUPE
i agree with ex250. before my g, i had a 99 corvette. and every other vette owner waved and i waved back. no matter if they were older, younger, male, or female. the first time someone waved to me in my vette, it caught me off guard. after that i felt like i was a part of something and always waved at another vette. in my g i get a wave from 1 out of 5 i see. btw, i always see the same 4 g's every morn on the commute to work and never get a wave. i think alot of g owners just look at it as a nice car to get from a to b. i guess they feel awkward about waving. if anybody sees me on rout 9, gsp, or turnpike. feel free to wave and ill wave also. black 5at with tint and spolier.
Re: GOT A COLD LOOK FROM A G-COUPE
Little off topic, but none the less Ive noticed alot of posters in this thread, as well as in general seem to be from New Jersey. I live down in belmar, right were theres enough girls to abuse the "cruising ability" of the G any time its nice out. Anyone else from central/south jersey or am I right in assuming most are from north jersey?
Re: GOT A COLD LOOK FROM A G-COUPE
Generally speaking...if they're driving a 6MT, they're not a "utility" driver...lol

Re: GOT A COLD LOOK FROM A G-COUPE
I hear ya MOZY, bad moods can be a factor in a G Dismissal. A nice car will always get my attention, even if I've been snubbed by a girl I'm involved with, or even taken a huge bath on an investment$$. I temper my highs and lows, so even when things are way up, I don't hop in the car and hit autobahn speeds for the adrenaline. I'd do it every day if I was in Germany, but here I get excited for other things.
I still gawk at 10 yr.old VR4s, cause not many are still left.

Re: GOT A COLD LOOK FROM A G-COUPE
I'd be happy just to see anouther coupe around here. I've gotten nice responces from 350z drivers, somewhat surprisingly. I even followed (err, deviated my course slightly) a red 350z only to find out the hottie driving it was probably in her 50's. Gave her a thumbs up, she just looked. I waved to one FX driver who was too 'gape mouthed' to bother waving back. hehe.
