New Rubber

Okay...throw 'em out....any gotten away from the Pilot Sports...and if so, are you happy with your new choice?

I can get mine at a parts discount, since I'm in Infiniti sales now...but I'm still thinking about going Nitto...

Suggestions, bitte!!

Re: New Rubber

I am going to switch to Bridgstone Pole Positions S-03's as soon as my Pilots are worn out... My friend has them on his Acura RSX and he loves them. Here are the pros and cons:

Pro's:

1) Better overall traction
2) Don't take a long time to warm up like Pilots
3) Cost per tire is less than Pilots (from most places)

Cons:

1) Tread life is anywhere from 12,000 - 18,000 miles (depending on weather and how hard you ride)
- Pilots get anywhere from 15,000 - 23,000 with the same stipulations

2) Don't know about any other cons

Therefore, that leaves me to think about getting these tires next instead of Pilots. And, the dealership charges out the *** for tires (had to fix a flat)... They wanted $400 just for one Pilot sport tire... Screw that...

Re: New Rubber

Don't the Bridgestones weigh a bit more?

Re: New Rubber

From what I remembered, the S-03's weighed like 4 pounds more per tire at 19 inches so all around, that is quite a bit of weight. However, the cost of the tires are way worth it and the S-03's are probably going to be my next set of tires.

Re: New Rubber

Other people have posted that the S-03s transfer more road noise into the cabin.

S03s have a price advantage over the Pilots as well.

Re: New Rubber

THe SO3's have a stiffer sidewall..A BETTER TREADWEAR RATING by 20 points than the Pilot Sports..however they do sound a bit noiser in the cabin..but nothing big at all...In my experience with my SO3's so far after 1000miles I absolutly love them. They stick to the road better than the pilots IMO and they look meaner...and I save like a few hundred dollars with them..At COSTCO they were $430-ish mounted balanced on the rim..

Re: New Rubber

How well do these work in the rain? I'm looking for some new tires since these all-season Goodyear RS-A's blow!

Re: New Rubber

I've gone to Dunlop SP9000s and think they're great.

Re: New Rubber

I was contemplating the S-03s...but having had NT 450s before, and being happy with 'em, I was thinking going with the NT 555s...but the water is muddy now....lol: S-03s, NT555s or Pilots...ugh....
