Just got coupe back w/ new engine, miss 07 sedan loaner!
update: my new engine was knocking, Im back in another 07 sedan. Maybe god subconsciously heard me and put me back in an 07 sedan
. I want my coupe back in 100% working order, I have 7 performance and exterior parts waiting to be installed!
I just got my car back from Riverside Infiniti, great service and people to deal with, after getting a brand new engine for oil consumption issues. However, I had an 07 sedan loaner car for close to a month and I gotta say that I miss it already. Overall the car didnt handle as well as a coupe or even the older 06 sedans or earlier but its a really nice redesgned vehicle. Anyone else impressed with the 07 redesign as far a performance?

Yes, Ive been driving the 07 Sedan as my loaner, and holy sh*t, that bitch MOVES. The engine/exhaust combo sounds mean as hell too, I couldnt imagine what intakes would sound like on that monster. They gave me the car with half a tank, and within 2 days, I was on E. When you have a 5AT, it gives the urge to just smash on the gas pedal ALL the time. Id have to disagree with you on the handling part tho. The 07 Sedan handled wayyyyy better than the previous 06 Sedan loaner I got, but my coupe definitely handled better, although im sure the Sport version of the 07 handles very well.
On another note, does your new motor feel more powerful?
Is it smoother or is it still rough as f*ck?

I posted a long time ago that the Sedan loaners I was getting 06' and later 07' seemed so quick, and the entire discussion (*debate*) began about weight, auto vs mt; etc etc....
I def ALWAYS MISS my coupe, and never look back when I give them the sedans back...but I do want that kind of "quick launch" feel...although I'm personally not the best MT driver in the world....not very talented, but can drive it (clean) easily...I just can't get crazy with it, or I start to kill the engine and look stupid...
I've actually never tried a high RPM launch, so who knows...maybe my coupe is quicker than I think, but those Sedan's seemed "Tweaked on a higher RPM" setting...they sure can jump up into the high RPM band, very quickly.
But I can see what y'all are saying...there is something about the way the Sedan's VQ's are tweaked differently....Even my Service "Guy" would say (when he handed me the sedan keys) "You're not going to want the coupe back"...I laugh and tell him he has NO WORRIES about that....I told him "It doesn't matter if that box can run circles around my coupe or is the fastest car in the world...half the reason I got the coupe was for it's bad @ss looks!, and I can always boost the coupe up some." he-he
Thanks Guys!

I had a loaner for a weekend (Thursday - Monday) and I was impressed with the 07 sedan. The engine is very smooth...but it wasn't close to my 05 coupe in acceleration or handling. Granted, I have mods.
The one thing that I did miss was the interior. Infiniti really made an improvement with the 07! The dash was nice and bright...it felt like a "modern" car. Getting back into my 05 felt like a downgrade...as far as the look and feel of the center console. I just may have to get a double-din deck...

LOL!!! I thought I was the only one who felt that way. Dealer had my 06 Coupe MT for a week for engine swap, too. Gave me a 07 Sedan to drive, and we enjoyed every minute of it. My wife didn't wanna let go when it was time to return it. It wasn't a Sport model, tho, that's why the ride was so smooth. Wonder how the Sport's ride feel like. The interior is indeed awesome.

Unless you're FI'd, an 07 Sedan would eat your coupe.
I only had mine for a couple hours while I got my drivers side window fixed. I can't believe the base sound system sounds like my bose only with better highs than the bose lol. Interior styling is excellent. Mine was a G35x, and yes, that thing knew how to MOVE. In fact, it felt like my V8 powered E39 540i 6speed out on the highway that I can't even imagine how a RWD G35 or G35 6speed would be like. I really loved the rev-match feature and the transmissions rather firm and crisp TC lock-up, plus the transmission doesn't unlock the TC as easily in top gear so you don't get the slushy feeling sometimes when accelerating slowly at highway speeds. I love the radio area with that ****, it looks so cool.
The only thing I didn't like was some new found engine noise/vibration. I'll admit, the original VQ engine sounds slightly loud during normal driving (compared to my 328Ci) and the HR addressed this, BUT on my loaner, any revs past 3,500rpm, it had a akward array of noises ranging from a low-frequency thrumming noise/vibration, a high RPM shriek from the engine, and a rising roar of an exhaust note, all at once feeling some serious vibration through the shifter. The engine shriek and exhaust note is great, but I'm not sure what to make of that low-frequency thrumming. It sounded almost like a worn guibo (AKA driveshaft flex disc).
regardless, I've always thought that G35x's had slightly louder drivetrains than standard G35's, so I hope a regular one would be better. My next car will definately be a G37

IMO, there is no comparison at all in handling between the 1st gen and 2nd gen Sedan. My 07 handles MUCH better than my 03 did. I would even say that the 2nd gen Sedan handles better than the 1st gen Coupe.....but that's just my own opinion though.
