I currently own a Z right now but was always in love with the G. I know you guys probably get these switcharoo threads all the time. i figured i need the extra room and luxury. i figured you guys would help me out on this decision. Now as the pricing goes, i'm looking into a used g35 coupe. auto or manual, doesn't really matter to me, that is if the price difference really matter.

well i currently own an auto 04 350z touring with 38,000 miles on it. Not to sure what it goes for now but i'm looking to do a possible even trade for an 04+ g35 with similar miles but willing to accept higher mileage on the G since the G probably keeps it value more than the Z.

so i guess the question comes down to is if i can possibly find a G with low miles as my Z for a possible even trade. i never drove the G before but i heard it has better comfort, which is a plus for me. downgrading on a little hp to me wont be an issue b/c i'm sure it's still fast enough. i will really miss my handling, since i heard the Z handles better than the G, but as long as the G handles close to the Z.

his is manual n mine is auto...

but our cars are really really close...(i think its the driver...HAHAH)

but i would say GET THE G!!!!!
is cooler than the Z....

 

sways n coils n you shouldn't miss the handling of the z too much (there is a qualifier in there for all those Z handling gurus)...what i will advise you is... def stick w/ a stick and get the 6mt (if you miss the Z's handling... im sure you will miss the clutch as well).

 

There's no doubt both are GREAT cars. However, if you're looking for a little more room and luxury, the G is the way to go.

 

okay G it is. anyone has knowledge on pricing? i do not want to pay extra for the g35. i'm looking for a possible even trade with almost or close to the amount of miles and year. is this possible?

 

I don't think you are going to get someone to trade a 04 G for a 04 touring with similar miles unless its a base model with 17's in auto without premium package. Even then its a long shot because there aren't many of those around

 

congrats on wanting a G its a great choice..i wanted a Z to b4..but i need more room so i bought a used 04 G with 25,000 miles for $23,995...umm on the even trade..i dont think thats goin to be possible but look around GL

 

I think even finding a similar G + you paying a little more is going to be hard I think..

 

If you put decent sways/coils on a G I would think it would outhandle a stock Z.. and he will not miss the clutch cause he has an auto z

 

i just did a quick search on autotrader and most used G's from 03-04 are going anywhere from 23K-25K (average). then i searched

for used Z's and most of them are going for around 21K-22K. I'd say you would probably have to pay 2 grand or more

to get a decent G in exchange for your Z. Its possible for an even trade, although it'd be a stretch.

 

yeah i looked on autotraders too and i saw that they ranged from 20-23 as well. i also have some volk wheels on so the price should be bumped up a bit. i'm not sure if i should part the wheels or sell it along with the car. i think i might do a private seller and get a little more out of it. I did a bbk on my car and got 21k for private seller that is. i'll guess i'll go look around some more.

 

Part aftermarket, you'll end up w/ more money that way
