Lost to an Auto 350z..

My friend has a auto z with the 17s. we raced twice. the first time, he beat me by half a car. I hit the rev limiter when i shifted to 2nd in mm mode and thats when he pulled a little. the 2nd time he beat me by a little over a car. i also hit the rev limiter on the 2nd race...grrr, but he said he used mm in the 2nd race and not the first.those z's are quick. it seems like they rev smoother when you gun it.

The Z car has a couple of advantages. First, it weighs less. Second, it has seven more hp at the crank. Third, it has a carbon fibre driveshaft for more efficient transmittal of power to the rear wheels. In the manuals, it also has a much lighter stock flywheel. You should lose on a drag. But not by much. That sounds like what happened.

The Z has all that while the G doesn't... *Grr. Another reason to get a Nismo flywheel and clutch...

Well the cars were built for different purposes. The G is supposed to be a luxury sports coupe whereas the Z is a pure sports car. Lots of differences there.

You might want to try and NOT hit the rev limiter and it should be a bit closer.

You should have pointed out the backseat and bigger trunk.

Re: Lost to an Auto 350z..

sadly no.

The driveshafts are different length.
Carbon fibre cant be spliced to a longer length like you can a steel exhaust.
I guess if you had *enough* Gs out there willing to have this done it may be a little less costly, but you know how custom orders go...

BTW, another benefit of the CF DS is safety. In highHP applications (racing) a broken DS will spin and slice a driver to pieces - while the CF piece will simply fail and spin free.

Re: Lost to an Auto 350z..

with out him knowing, take out your spare, jack and back seat.
And replace the stock intake with the 350z one and the Stillen hi-flow intake.

that should put you close to being even.

The back seat only weighs about 15 pounds. Not really worth taking out IMO.

For the record, a Z will probably beat you every time stock vs stock. But i love my coupe anyway :0

Re: Lost to an Auto 350z..

stock vs. stock yes

but with only a 7hp difference the intake should get you close to equal power. leaving about a 200 lb difference.

taking out the entire back seat(more like 30 or 40 lbs.) and the spare and jack, should get you closer to a 100 lb difference(.1 sec). more of a drivers race.

a little more.....race after they just got a full tank of gas and your gas light just came on, and there's another 100 lbs.(about)

or better yet, just bottle feed your car. and when your buddy is atarting to pull on you, spray it and watch his jaw drop in disbelief.
