Clutch problem. Anyone else have this happen?
I was driving my 6MT yesterday and driving it pretty hard. I went from 3rd to 4th at about 5000 rpm and then it seemed like the clutch got stuck. The engine went to redline and stayed there and I couldn't shift out of it. I stopped the car, turned off the engine and when I restarted it, it revved to redline and stayed there again. I had to shut it off and play around w/the gears to finally clear it. Has anyone else had this problem or heard about it? Was it something that I did? I'm going to take it to the dealership tomorrow, but it did have me scared a little bit. When I restarted it, I could smell that the clutch was burned.

Re: Clutch problem. Anyone else have this happen?
I've had my clutch catch on me twice now, once a 1st-2nd power shift but I immediatly caught what the problem. There is a small piece on the back of the clutch that snagged the carpet upon depressing the pedal. However, I also had an experience booking down route 33 where my clutch stayed in slamming into 4th gear.....this time it wasnt the carpet though. I asked my friend with a 350z if he ever had a similar experience. He also said his clutch has gotten stuck before, and that there is a tab somewhere (I don't remember if he said it was under the clutch pedal or right above the clutch pedal on the dash) that can actually snag the clutch when fully depressed and hold it too the floor. He fixed it recently, next time I see him I'll ask him what he did to it. Hopefully someone else on the board knows what I'm talking about and can get you the answer faster.
