Peeling Grill

I haven't heard of this before. Hope they replace this without a fight. No rock chips, it's just peeling off.

Re: Peeling Grill

Yep. I've got the same thing happening to the logo on my trunk lid. I haven't followed up on it yet, but I will very soon.
I would think that the dealer wouldn't give us any grief for a replacement.

Re: Peeling Grill

I had the center cap on my I35 peel just like your grille.
The car had way over 12,000 miles on it at the time and my dealer replaced the cap no problem...

I think that infiniti in general is very good with these type of problems....after all they have to stand behind the overall build quality of their vehicles...2old4this

Re: Peeling Grill

Mine is peeling around the INFINITI logo, that's why I am looking forward to change the whole grill.

Re: Peeling Grill

I "plan" on seeing my dealer this Friday ( 3/26/04 ) about our problem. If my plan goes through, I will fill you in on the info they provide me.

Re: Peeling Grill

Can anyone with a peeling grill tell me if underneath the black, the stuff which is revealed when it is peeled is shiny chrome? Thanks.

Re: Peeling Grill

Yes it's shiny chrome under the ebony. Mine has been replaced. Went to dealer and they had a new one for me in two days.

Re: Peeling Grill

OK, so here's where my situation gets interesting. I have the "Black Chrome" option on my G. I went to my local dealer today, not the one I purchased from, and they couldn't help me at all. The service manager told me that I would have to go back to the dealer I purchased from.
Instead of going back, I phoned them, told them my situation, and they said they'd call back. 10 minutes later, I get a call from a guy on a cell phone. He's some kind of outside contractor that does the Black chrome for the dealerships, and yet mobile. This guy works out of his truck! He told me that it is covered by warranty, and no cost to me.
He is going to fix my grille and logo, at my home, Monday morning. I gotta see this! It sounds to good to be true. I will post the results on Monday.

Re: Peeling Grill

You know when I was at the dealer. I was wondering for a 30k dollar car I wouldn't mind paying an extra 100-200 to get a full chromed grill instead of just a spray on. I wonder why infiniti skimped on that.

Re: Peeling Grill

Well, my repair is done. And you can't beat the convienience. My dealer sent a guy out to my house to fix my peeling grille and logo. He didn't fix it at all, he simply swapped them out. Now, I have a brand new grille, and inifiniti logo on my trunk lid, in addition to the "G35" characters on the upper right hand corner of my trunk. The "infiniti" letters across the trunk were OK.
All of that, with no cost to me. I asked him what happens if it does it again 8, 10, or 12 months down the road. He said it's covered. Just call him back.
He was at my house for about 15 minutes, and gone. So, I'm back in business and looking good!
