Not exactly...

'03-'04 coupes whether 5AT or 6MT are 280hp/270tq.

'05-'06 coupes 5AT are 280hp/270tq, 6MT are 298hp/260tq.

I have had my o4 6mt for two weeks and I wish I would have done some more research first. I fell in love with the looks of this car, I never really paid ant attention to g35 coupes before. I always bought mustangs. The road, tire noise is unacceptable. I drove it at the dealership but not enough to really notice, I thought the road I was on just sucks, because it does. I also hate how even with a 6 speed at 70mph its at 2.5 grand. The gears are to short that why it gets bad gas milage. I also never noticed that in austin tx everyone has a g35 coupe, now that Im looking I saw 4 on my 12 mile drive to work. Bottom line for what I paid I could have got something better and will be trading it in next year.

What did you pay? And what do you consider better for the price?

Also, I don't see how you could possibly think this car isn't an enormous improvement over mustangs. My family owned a '98 Mustang GT, and it had terrible road noise - we called it the tin can.

LOL, I feel sort of the same. Bought it a couple weeks ago and I was HOPING the road noise was just from the shltty tread life on the tires. Still noisy with my new wheels/tires. And this is coming from a guy who came from Hondas (somewhat). I guess what makes me feel better is that our 04 only has 31k miles and is REALLY clean.

I payed 22000, for a fully loaded coupe with every option available in 2004, it was 38000 new. I have the original paper work from the first buyer. This car has 60000 miles so I think I over paid now that I have been on these forums. Mustangs are not that great either but my 04 mustang did not have as much road noise. The 98 stang sucked and was the worse body style imo.

Ive had Rx7s(many for years), and a corvette. I was on rx7club.com for almost 6 yrs, and was a member of the corvetteforum.com for abt a year. I have never been to a enthusiast forum where many people spoke badly about their cars, with the exception of this one. Why even visit an enthusiast website if you hate your car? I dont understand it! I think the build quality of this car is well above average, and the only thing i hear is my NiSMO exhaust, and the sound of the plenum spacer i just installed. I dont know what you guys are talking about. You should try an 93-95 Rx7 for build quality, and even though i love the rotary engine, that is probably the most problematic engine ever known to mankind, you guys think you have problems???? Try installing a new engine every oil change.

Yeah that's a bit more than you should have paid. I got my '04 6MT coupe for 22,500 back in July when the blue book on my car was about 3500 more than it is now. It had 38,000 miles at the time of purchase. Essentially the only option I don't have is navigation, which I don't want or need.

This is a great thread, as I was debating the same two options.

Right now I am leaning towards a 06 6MT, I want bluetooth, I prefer the 06 interiors (although not majorly different), i want stock 19inch wheels to start off with, and i prefer the sport bumpers and spoiler.

I would love to have brembo's but I'll subsititute for the above

I think 90% of the people that reply to this thread will vote for whatever year G they own, so that's just silly. Sounds like you've done your research.

My vote would be for a newer year mostly because it will still be under warranty. Ultimately it will probably be worth the few extra thousand dollars you'll spend. The reasons you just listed are all valid. I recently purchased an '05 for the same reasons you gave. But to be perfectly honest, I would have probably bought an '04 if it were priced right.

I think the moral of the story is that you'll be happy with whatever you decide. Just make sure the car isn't broken!

^+1 i woulda gotten an 05 cuz of 19's but i wanted big boy brakes and brembos came with the 04. and tbh rims and significantly cheaper than a decent brake kit. so i opted out for more torque/less hp and big brakes/18's. O well have yet to be beat by an 05
