My Service Light Is On 2 Weeks After Service
My Service Light Is On 2 Weeks After Service
The other night I was in a heated telephone conversation and I may have abused the G a little. The next morning, the "Service Engine Soon" light comes on. It just came out of service (oil change) about two weeks ago. Do you guys think I did something to it?

The first thing to try is to reattach your gas cap. Make sure it is on tight, wait a day or two and see if the light goes off. It won't go off immediately, but this is one of the most common causes of the Check Engine Light. Hopefully that is all that it is.

I say the same thing...gas cap could be the problem....
when they put it on if you don't hear it "click" you will always get the light to come on...happened to me on my I35.. after I removed the cap and retightened it the light went off in a couple of hours....give it a try...2old4this

As 'Tjpyles and GR8TG35' say, a loose filler cap is a common cause of a MIL. Also you could try disconnecting the battery (negative terminal) overnight-- sometimes that resets the MIL.
Otherwise just take it back in to the shop and they'll figure out what prompted the light and fix it. G/L

No its fine, you should not worry about it too much. When I bought mine 04 I got the light and took it to the dealer. They said this is quite normal because the engine sensors are very much over reactive and did not stablize themselves yet

no, you pretty much can't damage it, without massive gross abuse. There are hundreds of codes that can cause the light to go on. Most of them are very minor. Don't worry about it, just take it in.
