Blue Book vs. Actual Sale Price (why so different with the G35?)

I'm getting ready to seriously persue selling my G35 but I am having a difficult time figuring out what to ask for the car. Its a 2005 6-speed G35 couple loaded with everything including aero package (no nav though), 32,000 miles.

I've been reading threads on this forum and it sounds like dealerships are selling 2005 coupes for around $23,000 or less??? I don't get it because trade in value on nada is $25900 and clean retail is $29800. I always thought that NADA was a pretty accurate way of figuring what to pay for a vehicle???

Best wishes with the sale.

Edmunds has always treated me well for gauging accurate selling prices - with the exception being the G35c after the G37 came out. It just seems like kbb, nada, and edmunds haven't kept pace with the G35 coupe in the past year. After the G37 came out this past (Aug?), G35c asking prices absolutely plumeted. Definitely a buyers market.

Consider this: NADA is saying $30k retail for your '05 6MT. Luxury Motors (Infiniti dealer) in Chicago had 2 brand new 07's listed for $32k that took several months to sell. They sold one and then dropped the price down to $30k on the other one. I watched it on Autotrader for 3 months before it finally sold last month shortly after the price drop. Most '06's on autotrader are listed in the $25-29k range. I haven't been watching '05's, but I would imagine $24-25k is accurate at retail (not private party which would be lower).

Take a peak at autotrader and eBay for comparable G's close to your zip code. That's a sure-fire way to gauge the market.

A Black G35 coupe 05 30,000 miles is selling for $19k. I want to go look at it but it is 4 hrs away. But I would say sell it for $25,500 OBO. Also look in the market place, the prices there are useually correct.

You can ask $30K, but you probably won't get it.

It all depends upon how anxious you are to sell. If you really want to sell quickly, price it lower. If not, price it somewhere you feel comfortable selling and don't get discouraged if it doesn't sell.

Always better to sell on your terms, not someone else's.

Or you can sell it on my terms! My offer is $18,500.

Just kidding I do not want to lowball. But if you are willing to sell it that low let me know. I'm looking for one. But good luck with the sale man.
