***clutch Help***

Sparknotes at bottom,
Ok so i went to the track today, and my clutch seemed to be holding ok... i went to the nissan dealership and they told me the "hissing" from my clutch area around 2k was the throwout bearing, but it would be driveable for a while, so i blew it off, well, by the end of the day (4 passes), my clutch seemed fine on the track, and was pulling me 14.0 stock... pretty good IMO. anyway, on the way home, its started slipping like hell... like literally going from 2750 to 5000 then back to 3000 when i would hit the gas, i obviously know that the clutch if fried, but my car only has 13 passes and 19.232 miles... OMFG, is that all i can really expect??? i really am a competent driver and i love my car, and yes, ive run it hard at the track 13 times, but other than that i daily drive it normally, not even excessively running it hard... im so confused...

oh so anyway, i need a new clutch and possibly flywheel, and i want to know what yall have had good luck with. I want something street driveable, that will hold ~400rwhp and has a good stiff feel without being a stage 400 "oh my god i cant push in the clutch" feel. Price is not an issue, but it is a factor.

Mileage will sell me. I want a clutch i wont have to replace for a while (~30,000-50,000 miles) and i want something that has been good for yall. please recommend me some good ones. I live in Waco, so dallas folks and houston and austin and central texas peeps, LEMME KNOW

PS. this is a very important purchase, and it needs to happen soon, PLEASE recommend whatever will be good. i really need help.

Sparknotes:
20000 miles on car and clutch is gone... only 13 passes WTF???
recommend something that will last me a long time and will hold, but not be insane. ~400rwhp is the most ill ever have.

running the car at the track completely goes against having the clutch lasting 50k miles. take her into the dealership and delete all of your threads on "I tracked my car and now my clutch is toast" threads...they can come back to bite you in the *ss. Tell them you dont know why its slipping

LMAO. You go to the drag strip with a slipping clutch and can barely drive it home afterwards. Then you come to the internet and post OMG WTF my clutch is already gone 19,xxx miles but I take it to the drag strip all the time. Lastly, you post that you want a clutch that will last 50,000 miles when you expect to go ~400hp in the future and still drag race it.

Here is the answer that you are looking for. There is no clutch out there that meet your needs. If you want to drag race then get a drag clutch, if you want to daily drive your car get an OEM clutch. But remember you can't have both and expect to get what you want.

I do have to commend you on going to a facility with organized drag racing. At least you aren't endangering innocent people's lives by street racing.

I don't think I can add to this, you know now what you did to yourself. Don't think the dealer will help, it's easy to tell when a clutch has been abused (just look for all the pretty colors on the flywheel). I have 63K on mine so it's NOT a poor design, it's poor driving choices. I can't believe all the people that come on here with their OMG stories and, come to find out, they have been drag racing a lot.

I love the guy that came on here and thought he could get a new clutch for $150, THIS ISN'T A GODDAMN VOLKSWAGON!!!!

This is a "SPORTS CAR, it's NOT made for drag racing. You can still have LOTS of fun without abusing the equipment. I know, cause I DO.

If you want to drag race, get the right gear and don't expect for Infiniti to honor your warranty.

if im not mistaken, the clutch is not covered under warranty. That is a wear item. No clutch manufacturers warranty their clutches for any certain time. Everyones driving habits are different. When i Had my Rx7 i used the ACT street/strip clutch. It used a heavier sprung pressure plate, but used a STOCK clutch disc. It held a hell of a lot more torque than stock though and was a good choice for me.

I put on a clutchmasters stage III clutch and flywheel about a month ago. Clutch pedel effort is same as stock, and I believe that it holds 40% more power than stock.

It's a tough call between Wear, Holding power, and Driveablity. I have seen guys with "full race" pucks on their clutches that couldn't pull away from a stop sign without the smell of wear material in the air. I would rather have a "somewhat stock" clutch (JWT for example) that has street driveability. Especially if you have to drive in stop and go traffic!

not making excuses, i tracked the OEM clutch 13 passes. I thought the slipping wasnt clutch but throwout bearing related (which the nissan dealer said it was...) so i thought i would be ok.

anyway thanks for the tid on street/track racing, that is a HUGE deal with me, i HATE street racing and cant stand people who do.

Quote from another member with an 04:

over 100 Track/street launches ranging from 2500-4500 rpm.
about 30 powershifts from 3rd-4rth
atleast one hard shifting a week.
Burned the clutch 4 times back in December of 2004 when just had the car.

At 57k still going strong, what about u?

The reason i created this thread is because i see a lot of 05-06 G35s with after market clutches.
