I'm looking into gettin' a G and was wondering if I should splurge and look for one with the premium package or just get the sunroof option.
Do dealers let you custom order a G?

Yes.
You'll get use out of many of the features, plus when it comes time for resale, most of those items will be standard on the newer cars (say 5 years from now). You will recoupe some of your money, plus it "might" be a deal breaker between someone looking to buy your G35 and the other guys G35 who did not purchase the premium package.

I custom ordered mine... really hard to find one on the lot with just sunroof, and chances are it's cause someone custom ordered and then decided to buy another car.
And yeah, it may hurt resale slightly, but I plan on never selling my car (for a REALLY long time at least) so that wasn't an issue for me.
That, and I dislike the auto-dim mirror, don't see a need for homelink, and am gutting out the whole stereo system soon anyways. Only the dual climate intrigued me... but overall, I didn't think that option was worth the extra $1250 it woulda cost for the rest of the premium package.

The only things I like about the premium is the homelink and the dual zone climate control. I hated the thought of shelling out even $20 bucks for the blose let alone ~$900 because I knew I was going to scrap everything but the head unit. But it's harder to fined one without the premium and I got VPP pricing.

I think the premium is worth it. The homelink is worth having to me, as I don't have to find a place for the garage remote. The sunroof, dual zone climate control, and auto headlamps I have in my other car, so I definitely wanted them in the G as well.

Premium Package was worth it for me. I rely on climate control 24/7, I use all three HomeLink buttons, I enjoy the Bose stereo system, and I love the sunroof. =)
Just look at all the options the Premium Package gets you and consider which of those options you really need, and the ones you can live without. Also, don't settle...this is going to be your CAR, so don't make any decisions you think you MAY regret later. Good luck! =)

Definitely worth it. I haven't seen a G without it, but I would imagine the car would feel like a bit B-rated without it.

i was considering the same thing when i was buying my coupe...
i decided on the premium because of a couple of reasons. first i didnt want to wait for a special order. and if i had to special order , i think it would have been harder to bargain with the dealers. so i decided on a coupe on the lot and got 1500 off 2 months ago in LA.
in hindsight, i think i made a good decision. i think the bose is fine...i seems liek too much trouble to switch sound systems. i love the auto dimming headlights..everything is good.
i dont regret my decision.
hope this helps

it's worth it because you can addon the navi system too
if you are truly set on NO navi, its not a big deal - as far as resale - so your car is 1.5k cheaper when you try to sell - big deal, thats basically what you saved off the sticker anyway.

i passed on the premium. got sunroof only.
to me the std stereo was an upgrade to anything i've had before. audiophiles have complained that the bose isn't really worth the 900.
they all have climate control, just DUAL climate control is included.
you can get navi without premium.
it boils down to stereo, homelink and dual climate.
resale effect i think will be negligible
04 6mtC, DG - possibly most babied G on the board.

in Canada we only have two trim levels.
i got premium mostly for the LSD and 18" wheels (coupe)
If i could order I would skip the sunroof, brembos, and upgraded stereo.

I have a comment on the everyone saying the Bose system isnt worth $900. I agree in a since but I think the system in sufficent for most and it is an upgrade from the standard.
As far as the $900, you have to look at it differently than any other car. On our cars that air and sterio are dependently linked to each other. You have to purchase a $400 independent air dash from Japan just to add a different head unit. Plus its gonna be over 5hrs of labor if you dont want to take the chance of scratchin your dash. So, I ask, is ANY system you want worth an extra $400-$600 to the price you have found???

You could change the speakers and amps and keep the same headunit, which is what most of us are doing with very good results. For the ~$900 you get 2 extra $10 6x9's and an amp that probably cost $40 at most.
