How Do You Lift Your Coupe?

Anyone got a cheap way of lifting the car to install some sways?

I was thinking using my stock jack and another stock jack from a friend's car to get the ca high enough to slip some ramps under it (the incline is too steep for the coupe, bumper hits them). Not sure if that is going to be very safe (the lifting it 10 inches off the ground part).

Any other ideas? I don't really want to spend a lot of money getting a hydraulic jack and jack stands, etc. If it starts getting pricey I see more value in paying a shop to put them in.

PS: I am installing the Hotchkis sways so any tips ahead of time would be appreciated too!

Without the proper tools/equipment, you should definitely take your car to a shop.

Jack stands ftw... did my own suspension swap on those.. solid as ****!. got a serious incline on my driveway too.. so i just used stops and bricks on the back when i worked on the front and vice versa. worked great.. had to leave it overnight since i ran into a problem.. so the **** was solid! bought them for 30 bux at advance auto zone. *4 stands and one 2k lbs jack*

Are these things safe to use being so cheap? I always thought stuff like this would be more expensive (for example how we pay $1,500 for some pipes to put on our cars =P).

If it's going to cost $100 tops and I get to have fun installing my own stuff, I think it's worth it. Do you guys think sway are simple to install though? I mean going to a shop would mean I have labor warranty if something goes wrong. This one guy I met through a friend is talking $87 per hour, but I do need for him to do some exhaust work so I thought I would throw in the sway install...

=/ not sure, kinda split on this

No Q about. They are safe as they can be.

More expensive mean either lighter products or paying for brand name.

Sways are pretty simple to install. Make sure you have a breaker bar if you don't have one already. It'll make your life easier when taking off the nuts on the sway bars.

Also if your car is low, you can drive up on some 2x12 pieces of wood and then jack it up. make sure you adequately brace the rear 2x12 though, otherwise they'll come flying out from under your car and break someone's leg.

You mentioned that you can't get your car up on ramps.... buy a set of Rhino ramps. They're black plastic ramps that are meant for sport cars with low ground clearance. I know for a fact that our cars fit up on them becuase I have a set that I use for changing the oil on my G.

Once you get it up on the ramps, you should be able to lift it up with any type of rolling floor jack and put it on jack stands if the project merits the suspension being unloaded or the tires being off the ground.
