I personally thought that the whole girlfriend thing was a cop out. Its obvious that that was DucatiGuy's doing. I think he was just trying to save face.... I just didn't want to say anything at the time because I knew there was an outside chance that it may have been her.

Theres alot of things you have to think about and questions you need to answer in order to figure out how your going to resolve this.

1. How long has it been?
2. Have you giving him reasonable time to send?
3. Do you think your going to get your money or grill back at this point?

You have all his information. After asking the question above you can determine if his intentions are to ignore you until you go away. If yes I would then get in contact with his local police and your local police. Its mail fraud. Of course everyone would hate to see it go to this since DucatiGuy is (was?) respected on this board....but this is [censored] up beyond belief. I'm expecting him to pop up on the board again or possibly e-mail you further delaying things. The choice is now yours.

well, my friend, it is time to say "@$!% it" and go get a new grill from your local dealrer. As I said before, I did exchange a couple of emails with Ducatiguy before and he seemed to be a nice and honest guy. Why would he screw someone for a lousy grill and couple hundred bucks? It just does not make sense.

WOW. I mean I dont know Ducatiguy. I have once or twice complimented his car on the forum and never got a "thanks" from him but I wouldnt say that makes him a bad guy. If he did screw someone out a grill ...aaaaaaaaaaa...it just plain makes no sense. I really think maybe something is terribly wrong. It's been a while since I last saw him on this forum. Maybe we should ALL flood his email box to see if he is alright and try to help in getting this matter resolved.

Once again, I hope he's alright. Life is precious. Grills are not...but this man does have every right to demand a grill. Let's just keep in mind it seems ducati has a solid rep and this just sounds so weird that maybe something bad may have happened to ducati..lets pray not.

It's a sad thing that Ducatiguy seems to be a "nice guy." However, this is a business transaction not a popularity contest. As far as I'm concerned Ducatiguy is no better than the average crook.

I would also recommend contacting local law enforcement, although I doubt they will be much help.

Perhaps you could slap him with a small claims court law suit.

Ducatiguy, imho is a charlatan posing as a legitimate businessman. He would have some nerve to show his face on this board after committing what appears to be a blatantly criminal act.

I really think there is a sane explanation for this. Ducatiguy has his entire life listed in his profile, it's not like it's hard to find him. You would think if he was going to rip someone off he would try to be hard to find.

I think he is away on business or went away on business and something happened. I'm sure he will be back and will have an explanation. Besides why would he risk all of this for a grill? A set of wheels maybe but a grill? It just doesn't make sence. Good luck and I hope it all works out.

There is no reasonable explanation....If he hasn't gotten to it because of "business", he is in the wrong. If he lost it he is in the wrong, and If he planned on a rip off then he is in the wrong.

And then to have his "girlfriend" e-mail him....deal with your own problems...don't hide behind someone elses name.

yeah, that stinks. maevrok started this thread on <font color=blue>3/24/04</font color=blue> and has been waiting since <font color=blue>3/14/04</font color=blue> (i'm assuming because the title said 10 days). it's now <font color=blue>4/15/04</font color=blue>. just to give you an idea of how long this poor guy has been waiting and grill-less.

what i don't understand is why hasn't the girlfriend contacted maevrok to confirm delivery of the grill if she was planning on re-sending? i'm not counting ducatiguy out or discrediting him, as i'm sure he has a good reason/explanation for all this, but even when ducatiguy does come back and maevrok gets his grill, having someone wait over a month without any contact is just wrong. where did that girlfriend go?

i have a feeling this story is going to have a very weird ending.

In a past post it states Ducati will be out of the country until early April. he doesnt need the $$ or the grill. he has not posted in over a month nor have I seen him "online". Lets hope he is ok and nothing happened to him.

My question is has anyone actually even met ducatiguy in person? someone said he has his whole life layed out in his profile. anyone could lie on a profile. I never spoke with him myself, and don't know much of anything about him other than reading a few of his posts. This has been way to long to wait on a grill. I'd be contacting the police by now myself. Hopefully good will come out of this and turn out to be a huge misunderstanding. but from what i've read it doesn't sound like it's gonna happen that way.

It doesn't add up to me. Ducatiguy always appeared to be a sensible, knowledgeable guy, evidently with some financial means. The idea that he would "take the money and run" just doesn't make any sense. We're only talking about a couple hundred bucks anyway. Why at the very least would he sell out his reputation here for such a trivial amount of money?

Personally, my instincts tell me something has gone terribly wrong in his life. I hope he's ok. If I were you, Dunbar, I'd get a new grill elsewhere, and someday you (and the rest of us) might find out what happened.

Are you suggesting he get a new grill and not do anything about it? Thats crazy. I worked hard for what I have, there would have to be a damn good reason for me to just shrug my shoulders to someone not delivering the goods I paid for. Not only did he lose cash....he lost the grill to the car he bought.

Personal problems make people rob liquor stores...it doesn't make it right.

Why doesn't DucatiGuy or his "girlfriend" write another e-mail explaining these problems.

I say let the police sort out this mess. That is my best advice to you.

Im done on this topic because I hate when people vouch for someone who they didn't even know personally. Anybody can create a nice persona online....even the irresponsible.

ok guys. enough of this ducatiguy seems like a nice guy. since when you ever hear people got scammed by people that seems shady? It's always "oh he's charming, he's got chrisima. he's well spoken." The fact that he seems like a stand up guy doesn't really mean anything and even if it does it has been butchered to death the past 10 pages of the thread.

Suggestion to the guy. Contact your local law enforcement. You know what address you sent the grill to. Time to do something about it. If its a mix up, it is still all good because you have waited long enough. There is reallly no excuse for poor customer service.
