Damnit I just got my car back from the body shop after getting the rear bumper replaced, and now for some reason there is a little rip on my driver's seat. I cannot believe this. I thought today was supposed to be a great day, now its all messed up. What kind of jinx is this? I feel like shooting someone.

Whoooo....I needed to vent this too. It's not helping much. Does anyone know if I get a leather rip repaired, if it will be fixed decently? I would really appreciate some help.

Thanks.

ximer....
Sorry to hear about your seat.....Did you ask the people at the body shop what happened? I'm assuming they did the damage.....

I do not know if they can repair a rip or tear without it being noticable......Past experience with leathers proved futile with out the scar (stitches)

If you didn't notice this before....the body shop guys must have plopped in your car with something in their back pocket....happens a lot to people having work done on their cars....

Hope it works out for you....I'm sure a new seat is pretty expensive.....2old4this

you just got to find a good repairer. I had a passenger put a little 3" tear in my seatback with the point of a mechanical pencil tip. I found a good repairer and he made it look absolutely brand new. You can't even see the repair. He said that those results can't be had if the damage is in the perforated areas though. Good luck.

Thanks guys,

1) Is the perforated area the part with lots of little holes?

2) Does that mean if my damage was in the perforated area, the repair will look unnoticable, or the other way around?

Thanks.

The perforated area is the part with all the holes. I think what he was saying is that you cannot have a clean repair if the rip is in the perforated area. I m not sure, I guess he'll have to answer that

yup. you won't have a clean repair in the perforated areas. They can repair it but it won't look perfect.

I would go back to that body shop and have somebody's a**. I guarantee if you chew out enough people for long enough, they'll just fix it to get you out of their hair. Tell them if they don't fix it, they'll be getting a letter from your lawyer.

Re: My Leather Ripped!!! #%^#!!!!
sorry to hear that... if it is a reputable shop then they will do what it takes to make you happy. But I am assuming this has been a day or two since you've posted... well as soon as you leave their parking lot you pretty much accepted the car in great condition and that by leaving the lot you also have agreed on the understanding that you are satisfied w/ the shops work.

Technically I dont think they owe you a thing even though they prolly did do the damage. Their argument is going to be "how do I know you didn't do that yourself before you got to the shop or after you left?"

I'd take the car back regardless... you never know if you dont try. But give em' hell regardless... hopefully they'll accept the loss to maintain their reputation. Good luck w/ the seats... it's gonna be a bitch to repair... better just to find a junker to replace the seats.
