Re: Problems in Coupe Forum
I think the problem in the coupe forum is that too many rules are being imposed. Generally speaking, the G35driver forums are relatively tame compared to many other forums on the web. Of course there are at times a few bad apples but the majority of the threads are informative. Now rules are being placed on a community based on the "words" of a few (and I mean very few) individuals.
Please don't punish the majority of users by removing our ability to speak freely as most of us do not abuse it.

Justice,
if there are problems with individuals..please pm one of our mods or admins..and we can take care of it..otherwise the problem with keep insisting..
We want a peaceful yet informative forum..also, we want u too speak freely, but not too freely if you get my drift...thats y were here..right...

Re: Problems in Coupe Forum
I think the problem is that some feel they are allowed the liberties to speak freely, while other take that liberty for granted, and make a complete butt-head out of themselves. This not only halts all productivity, but often keeps people away from actually checking into this forum; a forum in which they could make valuable contirbutions.
Unfortunately, it is often neccesary to enforce strict rules to keep a civil society. If the "few" cannot live by those, then the entire forum will crumble into idiotic oblivion. I hope that those who feel they are being ruled with an "iron fist" will come to realize that if they simply observe common decency, they are not censored. Those, however, who take offense to the moderation of the forum should perhaps re-evaluate their contributions.
But that's just my (un-spellchecked) opinion.

If you ban the people at the source of the problem the problem goes with them. This is like being back in kindergarten when one kid ruins it for the whole class.

Re: Problems in Coupe Forum
I've realized that when new rules were posted for the coupe forum, initially I was irritated that these rules had to be expressed, I don't think I have ever been one to violate any of the previous rules and I'm not saying that I haven't offended anyone(at least by not calling any names) but the new rules post just rubbed me the wrong way. I guess my concern wasn't really that it was censorship because I do realize this is a private business. However as a customer a few of the things that I have come here for and been entertained with was being taken away...so all I was doing was expressing my satisfaction with the decision. Upon further discussing things, I realized that what I had a problem with more of was the professionalism of some of the G35driver staff. It is a big turn off and demonstrates very poor judgement and leadership on their behalf. I think rules need to be enforced but I just felt when I read this particular post that I was back in the third grade being scolded by a teacher that lives by the philosophy "do as I say and not as I do" Bottomline I don't think there are really problems with the forum. I do realize that there will be people that don't know how to communicate effectively and people who don't speak with tact. I just don't think that what was said was the best way to convey rules, and I don't think it is as effective as eliminating the people that pose the problems instead of imposing rules on the people who are considerate to others. Enough rambling for me tonight!

this forum have been pretty good and very tame compare to other forum. Sometime i see thread that just doesn't serve any purpose, i.e. yelling, screaming, name calling, etc. I think when that situation arise, the thread should still be there but remove the reply. This forum is form so that we can exchange information, if a person going to flame, curse and scream at other, then it's no longer serve it's purpose. This is when mods and admin should take action. All of us here are old enough and mature enough not to flame and scream at each other. By placing restriction and rule, each user here no longer feel to share his/her knowledge because fear of retaliation, etc. As this forum get bigger and bigger, more mods and admin are need to put out fire. I myself know what is right and wrong and most or all here are the same way. Only a few selective individual that is causing the headache. Why let this effect the rest of us?
Here is my suggestion.
1) leave the forum as it is
2) if a thread is getting out of control, admin and mods should step in and close the thread or remove those offending reply. At the same time, warn that user. Give each user 3 chance if he/she still not playing nice, boot them out.
3) if needed, get more mods to monitor each forum.
4) users like myself should take an effort to notify mods of offending user or reply.
my 2 cents

Re: Problems in Coupe Forum
I believe what rubbed people the wrong way was the manner at which the moderator went about stating the new rules, in a very bossy, strict fashion, as if everyone were a criminal. The rules more or less make sense, but the attitude of the moderator has to go. Having people like this in charge of the site will irritate more people, not have them obey new rules. You attract more bees with sugar than with vinegar. I guess thats what it boils down to.

MyGUnit....perfectly said....My wonderful grammatical mess of a response that I wrote after reading this whole situation was mostly caused by my relative shock at the way these rules were presented.

Re: Problems in Coupe Forum
thanks for all your concerns..this is exactly what I needed..
Once again, I appoligized for those rules, thats why I pulled it off...but I do understand why it was done...wrong..but I do understand..thats y the mod has been warned, and if it continues too happen, I will revoke his privelages..
anyways, the coupe forum is probably one of our highest post and response..and it is nearly impossible for someone to read each individual post..
With that said, If there is a problem with a thread, members..someone will have to pm one of us to close the thread and warn that member or mod...
If there is a problem with one of our mods, pm one of our admins..
Hopefully, in the future this will not happen again...
thanks

Re: Problems in Coupe Forum
Obviously, profanity, threats, and harrassement are not allowed. The question still remains though:
Are we allowed to post and discuss subjects that are illegal, and if so, how illegal?
Street racing?
Speeding?
Illegal mods?
I can understand people asking advice on how low to tint their windows in CA before they run into legal trouble (since all tinting is illegal in that fine State). However, asking where to set up the next street-drag & side-show for Saturday night should probably not be tolerated.
Therein lies the problem, if one imposes rules on discussing illegal subjects you either do it across the board or draw some line, and drawing such a line is a slippery slope. Saying that I regularly drive 75mph in a 65 zone is probably not an issue, but saying I topped out 4th this morning in a school zone probably is.
Defining that line, calibrating the mods, and getting getting agreement among the poster community won't be simple. Such political tasks never are.

Re: Problems in Coupe Forum
I agree with your post as a whole, however on another note, you are incorrect about tinting in CA. "(since all tinting is illegal in that fine State)" I don't want to start any arguments but I pulled up the vehicle code for this subject last week for someone who wanted to get tint on their Civic, so I know exactly what the law is and just wanted to clarify that you were incorrect.
Everything else though...well said!

Re: Problems in Coupe Forum
I'm not sure what you mean, unless you are referring to 88%T jobs (visually clear), or framed, suction-cup sunscreen devices. The code is quite clear, as are two of my officer friends who routinely patrol the streets of Northern California.
In an effort to stay on topic here, I've started another thread in Tech/Mod to discuss California tint job legality .

Re: Problems in Coupe Forum
Ok guys....don't get off topic!! 8^)
As one that was a bit irked by the mods note I'll just reiterate what the previous posters stated. I'm glad the admin has taken our input. We are on the majority well behaved citizens (outside of a few illegal tints (state pending) and occassional speeding) and I agree rules are needed, but within reason. I'm all for banning when its done with warnings and so on. I don't think I've seen much on this site that was too bad, but personal slandering should not be tolerated. Warn them, if they continue to do it then ban them...easy enough policy.
Now that being said people and mods make mistakes so let bygones be bygones and lets move on.
Thanks for listening.
