Ok i just got a nail in one of my tires and should I just patch it up at a tire store or get a new tire? Also anyone know where they have good prices on tires? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks

Re: Flat tire...

I got a flat, too before I even got 1000 miles on my Gc, I thought I cut the sidewall, but the guy who put my replacement on said it was a tire defect. Nonetheless, I've had tires patched on my prior cars as well and the patches have all held out; however, if you are going to be pushing your car, I'd opt for a new tire; but depending on the wear you already have, you may want to get more than the punctured one replaced. I get all my replacement tires from www.tirerack.com.

Re: Flat tire...

A properly patched tire is probably OK for general use. Just be aware, that once a tire is patched, it looses it's speed rating. This is because the patch it runs hotter and squirms more. For general driving this is OK though. Elussive is 100% correct, never, ever plug a tire, unless it's just a temporaty fix.

Re: Flat tire...

Ok, I had a flat rear tire 2wks ago. Pepboys wont fix it, they said their machine could only unmount tires on wheels up to 17" (what the ?), STS won't either, said they don't do tires which have pressure monitors on them.

Since my oil change was near due, I waited the next day and brought it to Infiniti Ray Catena, NJ. They plugged it not patched. They dont patch tires and don't recommend it. Up to recently, my flats w/ other cars were also plugged as well, not patched.

Re: Flat tire...

i had my tire replaced under the road hazard warranty that infiniti offers at signing for 300 dollar and it covers you for 5 yrs. If not i would had have to shell out amost 400 bucks for a new one.
