changing MT tranny fluid
changing MT tranny fluid
Is it worth all the hassle. The reason i ask is b/c my coupe has almost 100k on it and the clutch is feeling a little stiff from 1st to 2nd. I know a lot of g35 drivers experience this when the car is cold but it happens sometimes even when warm. So would changing the fluid help out or do I need to go ahead and start looking for a new clutch? Thanks in advance

Changing the MT oil won't help with a stiff clutch. A good synthetic will make the stick a little easier to move especially in cooler temps. You should have already changed it if you have 100k on the clock.
Changing the MT and rear diff fluid isn't really a hassle at all as long as you can get it on a lift. I just did my own change this weekend while doing the 60k maintenance and the 1-2 shifts are a lot better now. (cold and warm)

I used amsoil, i get freezing winters and hot summers. It's been better for me ever since. Change your rear differential as well.
Search around the 350z forums as well, you'll see that there's little to zero complaints about Amsoil.

Just make sure you have a 10mm hex bit drive (looks like an allen wrench tip) a hand pump for the fluids (might want to get an extra tube if you can since cleaning it was a pain) and the torque specs for the fill and drain plugs. (I believe its 25 ft/lbs for the tranny and 23-28 ft/lbs for the rear diff). You should also get the service manual which you can download from this forum in PDF format. It'll have all the torque specs and list how much and what type of each fluid you'll need.
Good luck.
