Trade-in at the infiniti dealer

Re: Trade-in at the infiniti dealer
Yeah, I did back in november of 2002 at the Monrovia location. It was quiet disappointing to say the least. If I recall the blue book value on my 99 Prelude (about 60K miles, 2-3 dime size door dings, no mechanical/operational problems, proper maintenance) was about 14k. Their offer was 10K stating that my car was involved in an accident. Although true, the accident was minor. Some lady rear-ended me and scratched the bumper. Due to the fact that it was her fault, I filed a claim. After hours of aggravating discussion, I was offerred 12.2k, 3 hundred less than what the University Credit Union offerred. I accepted under the condition that they match the interest rate offerred by People First.

Don't let it get to you if your car didn't match KBB's value. KBB is optimistic with the used car market...real-world demand for the car at the certain time of trade-in has a big impact on resale.
I traded in my 03 VW Jetta 2.slow for $14K and I believe KBB valued it at like $15K...so in this case, I think my Infiniti dealership did pretty good. Plus the car was leased and the dealership took care of all the rugged paperwork that normally takes like a month (to get out of the lease).

Re: Trade-in at the infiniti dealer
I was going to trade my I35 in for my G coupe...the dealer wanted to give me only 16,000 for a 2002 loaded I35 with everything but NAV and sport pkg.....The car had no damage or dents/dings and the interior was immaculate......
I sold it privately with 42,500 miles for 19,500.......so if you can do it, sell it on your own if the car has any resale value....

Re: Trade-in at the infiniti dealer
I think how much they offer you depends on the dealership you're working with. I traded in a 98 Accord coupe EX-V6. I think the Bluebook value is around $9-10k. I was offered $6k for it. Ended up selling it myself for $8.5k. The Accord was actually estimated at a "Bargin Lot" owned by the same dealer.
Anyway, unless your car has some problems that you think will make it a hard sell on your own, I would sell it privately. Just need to be patient.

Re: Trade-in at the infiniti dealer
I'm not too sure about lease deals...but when my wife and myself purchased our 2002 Infiniti's...she was at the end of her Volkswagen lease....they worked alot with us on that deal because there were two cars involved in the new sale....
Most dealers will buy you out early on your existing lease...but I don't know if its in your best interest to do so....
sorry I couldn't be of more help.....2old4this

Re: Trade-in at the infiniti dealer
Ending the lease early is a bad idea. You are responsible for the remaining lease payments. When the dealership says they will handle them or take care of them they are actually adding that amount to your new lease payments and you dont feel it becuz they extend the lease term to 48 or 60 months and kink around with the residual. Never end a lease early unless you only have a month or two left.
When you lease a vehicle make sure the lease contract is with the car manufacturer (toyota financial, honda america finance, and so on). When the dealer uses a traditional bank (bank of the west, etc) they have the most stringent rules in terms of returning the vehicle. You have to return to a certain location, and they completely check your vehicle top to bottom and start to tally up the fees.
If your lease contract is with the car manufacturer financial institution then you can return to any dealer and they mostly just want to make sure you didnt go over miles.
my 2 cents
