Acceleration?

Hey guys,
I'm pretty dead set on getting a G, but as most of you know test drives don't do cars justice in terms of feeling the cars acceleration under full pressure. From my understanding this car is not a huge competitor from a stand still. I'm wondering how it matches up with most cars at highway speeds? Is the acceleration much better in this car starting from around 60 and going up, or from 0-60...Input is welcome, Thanks

Re: Acceleration?

G35 is extremely fast off the line as well as at highway speeds.

Um.... I completely disagree! We aren't the fastest, but I'd say better than 95% of what's out there. (we aren't a super car)

....and we kick @ss at highway speeds!!!!

Re: Acceleration?

The jump off the line is solid but the Gcoupe really shines on a freeway / highway if you ask me. It's really no fun driving on the street all the time.

Re: Acceleration?

why does it feel like the sedan is faster than the coupe, i have a loaner sedan coz my coupe is at the dealer gettin serviced.
it seems like the sedan is much faster, it seems like it accelerates quicker and has more power....

maybe i am just used to the coupe

what do you guys think?

Re: Acceleration?

Hey I agree with you on that one...I guess I should have wrote that out differently...I know this car wasn't built for just straight line acceleration, its much more rounded which is why I love it..My question is really aimed at finding out how we fair in highway sprints...And no I don't promote street racing or high speeds in traffic areas..Thanks guys

Re: Acceleration?

do you have the 18inch wheels? that might partly explain it.

Re: Acceleration?

I got that same feeling when I was driving a sedan loaner. The service guy said that the coupe weighs a lot more than the sedan.

Re: Acceleration?

It doesn't go faster, but this just goes to show how inaccurate the butt dyno is.

Re: Acceleration?

I believe the dyno and track results prove the coupe has more hp and is faster, respectively.........but I do have to admit that when I have driven the sedan loaners, they do seem to pick up speed faster! Maybe the throttle calabration is more aggressive or something on the sedan and that makes it feel like it is accelerating more at a given pedal depression?.

Re: Acceleration?

My Sedan loaner also seemed faster and seemed to shift at a more aggressive spot and more smoothly in auto. Made me think I should reset my ECU.

Re: Acceleration?

I think this topic has been brought up. About the "feel" vs the actual speed. The coupe is a pretty heavy car, with a pretty comfortable ride. It doesn't really give you the full "kick" feeling, if you will when you say drop the clutch at 2k rpm (I've been afraid to go higher). It may be due to the weight, or the comfortability of the seats, whatever. The 350Z to me "feels" a lot faster, but in reality its not all that much faster.
