Corvette hunting with 450+ BHP!
I just wanted to post the metamorphosis my "G" is undergoing. I am installing a few stillen products. I first put in the cat-back exhaust system. Sounds F*%&^$ awesome. It has a little more of a growl in it and I can notice more pull. I'm currently having a type "2" supercharger with intercooler and ceramic-coated headers installed this week. I'm told I should be north of 450+ hp with these additions. I was also looking to add a cold-air intake with ram modification after that install. I'm told that some superchargers come with ram intakes so that idea is on pause for now. I plan to dyno when done. I can't wait! I'm going corvette hunting after all is said and done. I forgot to mention I had the stillen aftermarket hood put on with the raised cowl due to the s/c. It's a necessity but it definitely makes the car look distinctive and gives it a slightly more aggressive look. M3's, corvettes...BRING IT! Peace Wayne

Where did you get the 450+ HP from? Here's what Stillen's website have to say about the stage II intercooled supercharger:
"The STILLEN Supercharger System adds more than 83 hp and 72 lb/ft. of torque raising the bar from [stock] 287 hp and 274 lb/ft. to 370 hp and 346 lb/ft. respectively."

OK Anthony, I may not be the theoretical physicist you are but it seems pretty simple. There's this concept called horsepower to weight ratio. The man installing my go-go parts builds actual nascar racers and constructs engines for 911, shelby cobra's and the like. If this man tells me I'll be mid-4 sec. 0-60 times I'm inclined to believe him. If he also tells me I'll be faster than C5 corvettes and DEFINITELY quicker than the NEWEST M3...I believe him. Later.

Good luck and keep us posted with your results. I'm interested to see what your dyno numbers will be with the SC.
I'm sure you will surprise most on the road - just keep in mind the other guy isn't always stock.

Damn, I put this post on because I figured there where a few enthusiasts out there, and not all this cynicism, skepticism, and negativity. Tx g35 you must of stopped at the s/c. If you would of read the whole thread and saw that I not only will have a s/c, I will be adding racing headers to go with the cat-back exhaust system already in place. That should dyno to about 450 bhp. Plus, the stillen rep says the hp gains you read on the website are way conservative. If that's true I don't know. Either way this G will be rocket-powered. Where's the love? Later W

good luck with the mods, but youll never see 450+ hp, even with the stage3 and intercooler, go to my350z.com and read previous posts of those with the stage 3, if i remember correctly they were seeing around 360-370rwhp, at the most. but good luck anyway and i hope you enjoy it.

Check the FI forum of my350z.com...its really active with very smart people. You will suprise alot of people...but other people mod cards too so dont get too cocky =) I just got OWNED by a 9 sec 1/4 mile muscle car...I knew I would get owned...but damn...

PS I love this forum, but my350z.com is much more techincal with people doing crazy stuff. I HIGHLY recommed doing research there before doing any mods like FI, N20, engine internals, etc. There isnt anything that a G35 is going to do that a 350z hasnt already done...more than once...including blowing up their engine cause they were the first to learn something the hard way.

Re: Corvette hunting with 450+ BHP!
I think what's going on here is a mix of HP numbers. Based on a drivetrain loss of 17-18%, acheiving 450 HP at the crank is easily attainable with a supercharger. That correlates to a dyno of around 375 at the wheels.
The stock G35 coupe runs an estimated 280 at the crank and 220-235 at the wheels. AFAIK, the Z06 Corvette is 450 HP at the crank--not at the wheels.
