This is a simple request and I know someone on the board may have the answer...we all know what GTR and GTO stand for...but why did Infiniti designate "G"? I belive the "35" stands for 3.5 Litre

I think it probably is thier way of classifiying models like Mercedees and BMW do. For example, Merceddes has the C Class and the M Class, and The E Class, usually the number indicating engine size.

 

we also know what GTA stands for!!!

 

35 is definitely the engine size. But I think G has more to do with the spec level of a car for Infinitis. Who knows what posessed them to do it this way. But Q, being the largest is the latest alphabetical number, M is almost like Q but not quite. J (the old J30) is a bit smaller (or lower class) than an M but more than a G. G 35 for replacing the G20, replacingthe entry level Infinit. I dunno, it's my explanation.
