That's what I'm saying. The OP got it made then.

Careful how you drive it though. It's RWD. If you treat it right it will last you even after you finish college.

no i meant buy a reliable car for around 5k then save the rest, put it into a CD or something, even though interest is kinda low right now, 10k in a cd, he can make some pretty good interest

i've dumped around $30k inot my cars since i was 17, im 21 now and i WISH i didn't do it now, i could do so much with $30k right now...just saying

Yo man.. I'm 19 and I'll tell you right now.

Save your money.. I make a bit more than you but I have car payments+ insurance+ gas.

I have money for mods but if I keep buying my mods I end up not having much spending money for when I go out with friends- which IMO is much better than constantly buying mods that do very little.

Go big or go home with this car.. Turbo (or go another FI route) it and stop buying N/A mods, or don't turbo it and leave it stock.

Have some fun with it!

A plenum spacer and Z-tube are the best bang for your $$ performance mods. For appearance, tint and rims are where I'd start.

if i read correctly you will have 300 a week which is 1200 a month. that will cover insurance and gas depending on how hard you drive. i'd say save your money and just go FI at a later point in time or save for after college. That isnt alot of money you have to spend and g's are expensive.

I think you will be fine if you buy one. If you have $1200/month. I am 17 and was quoted $260/month for insurance. I am also figuring $350 for gas. Right there it equals $610. So you will have $600 to save. If I were you, do not mod the G(Performance wise). It will be WAY to expensive. Just buy tint, wheels, and good rubber. And if you want, an exhaust and intake for sound. But that is all. If you can bank $450 a month and invest $300 of that $450, you will be somewhat golden. Your savings will be $5400 a year minimum not including your investments. That is what i would do if I were you and wanted the car.

However, I think I would not get a G due to the perfect time to buy a house. The market is gowing down and has to come up some time. I would look into buying a small house and flipping it in the future. Just rent it out to help with the payments for now. I think you will appreciate that reward much more once said and done.

Sorry about your uncle. I know how it feels since I have lost an aunt. Not the best feeling in the world.

I'm sorry but 1200 a month is not enough to start modding the G like people here are saying.

Don't listen to the negative nannies on here! Live it up, I bought a G at age 20, best purchase I ever made, since then I've spent tons of money on mods for the G and bought tons of other fun stuff. The only regret I have is not spending 10k up front and getting a F/I setup for my G, oh well.

You only live once, enjoy life to the max!

Just think....
When you're 50 do you want to look back and be like:

"Yuuuup, I lived a responsible life and invested that 17k and it was 25k by the time I was 24, how amazing, I was able to drive a beater during that time and by the time I could buy a nice car I had children and had to buy a 4 door station wagon, it was a volvo though so it was cool!"

Or would you prefer

"I remember when I bought my first nice car, it was a G35, I enjoyed it the whole time I went to school and for a while afterwards!"

The choice is yours, just saying how I see it

When I'm 50 I'm going to look back and say that I was smart by not blowing my money on a car ( not a wise investment).

I'm going to have a nice big comfortable bank account because of the sick *** job i got by spending my money on school, big *** house, nice cars, and a sexy *** wife.

I won't need to rely on my retirement fund early on in life...

Save your money, the G is a nice car, leave it the way it is and concentrate on more important things.

Offcourse you can listen to the idiot and "live it up". But then you will live pay check to pay check.
