Awh come on!

This person came here for answers!

Go ahead spend all your money, why not! it's paid for!
Then after all your money is gone you can stay home and wash and wax your car and watch it go nowhere.

No matter what we say here a 18 year old won't listen to reason.

Good Luck.

if your DESPERATE for modz and dont mind paying for the interest, get a loan for the car (either under your name if possible, if not get your parents to cosign), drop 5k for down payment, keep the 15k in tha bank, drop 10k into a savings (CD), keep the other 5k in another account and use it to pay the car payments every month along with some minor mods (i.e intake, tints, front lip, sound system) and you will still have some of it left for anything else, or in case somethin happens (making the payments every month will build your credit score up as well)

if you have the money to pay off a car in full, i suggest you do so, its alot safer that way and you pay no interest but u can do the loan only if your desperate

damn... u got it MADE paid off G and 1200 a month.. shiit save up a couple months and BOOST THAT BIOOTCH! lol i don't know.. gas is 60 a week for me and insurance is 190. It's it's paid off then ur ****in golden.

mod list would prolly be either performance or noise.

Noise is:
test pipes
intake *stillen or jwt pop charger*
plenum spacers
intake * a lil too overpriced for the total lack of hp if u ask me but im gonna end up gettin one *

performance:

two choices really... *Supercharger or turbo* unless u get some internal work done but then u would have to know what ur doin. *cams etc etc*

Your uncle passed away and left you with $20K that you will dump into a depreciating asset. You, sir, are about to take a trip on the fail boat. Pay for school, stop depending on your parents, get a good job and buy a GTR in a few years.

gas prices rising faster than basically anything else in the world, you might want to buy something that will last you more than 2 years before you can't afford to drive it anymore.. get a vespa or something.. I'm pissed cuz the G is definitely not a college car, it's going to get fvkd up by friends from parties, then you just get angry.. idk in my opinion, save your money, invest in real estate, or something that is sure to go up.. unlike gasoline cars, which are sure to go out of business, or come out with new forms of energy... then your car will be useless.. anyways my rambling might not make sense, but if you plan on having a lot of money in the future.. then sure live it up while you can still afford a car... otherwise, invest and have a happier life later

Haha I just bought mine and I am 20. Also make 55-60k a year and yes, even without bills (except school, which I take part time) its hella expensive. More expensive than it seems at first lol. And I had over 50% cash downpayment. I really wish my parents helped me (they can very easily afford to) but I didnt get a single friggin penny . No more blowing my cash on semi useless luxuries like 2grand on headphones lol.

Don't buy it... I know I would probably be happier with ~30k in my bank account that I spent on downpayment and the ability to waste all the money I wanted on random impulse stuff. Not a huge mistake or anything, its just that now I am sort of forced to work my *** off for another year to pay the rest off and thats depressing. More depressing than I ever imagined.

Advice

Just wanted to say I just graduated college and my real job doesn't start until july. I'm not making much more than you, about 800 every two weeks doing part time web design until then. My payments are 300 a month and my insurance is 120 a month. I don't commute so gas really isn't that bad. I don't know why everyone is hating. You can pick up a G for a pretty decent price since they have been around a little while and the 37s came out.

Mods are completely up to you. Spend some time searching the forum. I did exhaust first because I like my car loud. From what i've read on the forum you won't get much hp from bolt ons. You would have to go forced induction.

Just for future reference keep in mind the G35 is geared toward an older more mature audience so you probably won't find a lot of sympathy on this forum for a young person trying to spend all their money on a car. I'm sure you've been told is one of the worse investments you can partake in. Check out the 350z forum, you'll probably find more people who are in your situation. Good luck and have fun. You'll love the car.

At first I was gonna echo everyone else here and tell you to save your money. But thinking back to college days, what you wanna do isn't outrageous. The car will be paid off and you'll have plenty of cash for gas and insurance...besides gas and insurance will be more or less the same on any decent car. Why bother spending 10k on a car you won't like and will have to replace in a few years. The real question is whether you need a car in the first place... I wouldn't do any mods for a while though.

Screw being an independent adult. You're 18, your parents will help you with expenses.
