Re: Baseline dyno

Fifth gear is the 1:1 ratio for our cars. Comparing dyno numbers from across the country is useless. I'll be watching your trap speeds to see any improvements with the z-tube, as the dyno might not show any gains with the minimal airflow the fan provides.

Re: Baseline dyno

I go tomorrow morning for a dyno run to see just how much if any wheel hp i'm going to see after adding the z tube. I will do one run in 4th gear to see how much a difference there is compared to the baseline dyno that was done in 4th. Then i'll do a run in 5th.

Re: Baseline dyno

2nd dyno is done...here it is:

I did the first run in 4th gear just to compare it to the first time my car was dynoed which was only done in 4th, then the next one was done in 5th. My max HP is now 245.74, so that's almost a 9 hp at the wheels gain from just adding the Z tube. I'm very impressed so far. The torque jumped way up from the difference in dynoing it in 5th versus 4th gear. My max torque now is 237.8. Stay tuned for more mods in the next coming weeks.

Re: Baseline dyno

Thanks for the info RoRo. That's a pretty significant gain from the Z-tube.

I'm curious ... was the battery reset also performed for your original dyno test (w. NO Z-tube)? And are these dyno numbers SAE corrected?

Let us know when you do another 1/4 run, so we can also cross reference what your trap speed is now.

Thanks,

Re: Baseline dyno

RoRo,
I just noticed your original dyno is a little wakky while trying to super-impose you before and after graph for better visual. The original's graph shows ~180hp and ~150lb-ft. Do you have another graph showing the right curve? ... so I can do the super-imposing.

Thanks

Re: Baseline dyno

The curve is right on the first dyno but for some reason the plots were messed up. On the screen prior to him printing it showed the correct plots where the line went beyond 200, but for some reason when he printed it, it put them out of wack. He called dynojet immediately and they said that his software program was not up to date. He has them fixed now for whatever reason. No computer resets have been performed and as far as I know the dyno is SAE corrected.

For some reason the picture of the 2nd dyno won't show up on this website, but it's showing up on others, so I apologize. The red line in the dyno is the 4th gear pull, and the green line is the 5th gear pull.

Re: Baseline dyno

Did you notice a drop in torque below 4000 rpm? I am interested in getting the z tube as well. But since most of my daily driving is 3500 rpm or lower, I don't want to give up any torque for a few high end hp gain. Someone a few months ago did this mod and their dyno showed about a loss of 15 foot/pounds in the lower rpms. I'm hoping your dyno does not show the same losses, cause then I might break down and buy one.

Re: Baseline dyno

I just added the underdrive pulley set. I took it out for about 30 miles after the install last night, and I must say I felt a slight difference in everything above 4000 rpm. My next dyno will be scheduled for the end of the month at the same dyno place.

Re: Baseline dyno

Got the 3rd dyno done today for the G35, here are the results:

I was impressed with the 8 HP gain from the underdrive pulley set.

Re: Baseline dyno

I did my baseline.

No mods done, just Techron 92, NAPA Gold Oil Filter and Castrol GTX 5W-30 oil . Pulls were made in 3rd gear.
