My car is in the shop getting worked on for this and to get a new head unit. I heard that it may lock if the car is turned off while the car is moving. I have a manual, and the loaner is a auto. Can anybody try this experiment?

Mine's in the shop also, this is one of the things that they are looking at. I doubt that they will do anything about it, however, since I have not been able to reproduce it at will. I do occationally turn the car off when it's still moving (also have an 6mt). Will try this when I get it back. Somebody else mentioned that the truck won't open if you use the key-fob to unroll the windows but I have not been able to replicate.

I have this same problem.. .but it only happens when I roll the windows down with the remote. If I roll the windows down with the remote, and then try to open the trunk, it never works. however, if I don't roll the windows down...the trunk always opens. I think it has something to do with how long the unlock button is held down. Try opening the trunk first, and then unlocking the doors.

This has happened to me, but only if i'm pulling into my driveway, and I turn off the car while its still rolling in neutral. If this is the case, I cant open the trunk, and need to turn the car to "on" and then it goes back to normal. Must be some kind of safety mechanism. Other than that, my trunk works fine. I'm curious to see if any automatic G's have this problem, because that would totally void my hypothesis.

They charged me 80~ bucks to rewire the navigation mod. (using the trunk switch to tell the car it is not moving) They thought it was a loose connection. I told them that it had been doing this well before i tore into the dash, so they said that they would refund it if the problem still exists. I pick it up tomorrow.

I got my car back from the dealer. As expected I received a "technician unable to duplicate problem". Not surprising since I haven't been able to duplicate it as well but I'm surprised that they (Infiniti) does not know about this since it is affecting more than just myself.

I haven't tried the rolling off thing yet (forgot).

ps: I do not have the Nav system, not sure how it affects this issue.

My 2004 G35 did this yesterday, sedan. I did turn the ignition off while rolling though. I started the car and all worked normal again. Both the Key Fob and the switch on the dash would not open the trunk.

Has anyone's dealer been able to fix this problem yet? I've taken my car twice to my dealer for this complaint and got the car back with the "technician could not duplicate concern" reply.

So here's an update.

I was at Pleasanton Infiniti last week to show them this thread, and that many owners have issues with the trunk release.

As I'm (again) explaining the problem to the service manager, my trunk won't open. The timing of this happening couldn't be better. So he calls a tech who fiddles around with the remote, trunk release switch, etc. and can't figure out what's wrong. They then contact Infiniti's "Tech Line" and are advised to replace the BCM controller.

So today they installed it, reprogrammed all keys and reset the tire pressure monitors, all done under warranty. The trunk release has been working fine ever since.

I'll keep you guys posted if the problem returns.

Remote windows

You guys are talking about being able to roll your windows down with your fob. can this be done with the factory fob or is this an aftermarket thing.

Please let me know how your doing this or what your using to get this feature on your G.

Thanks
Aaron

I see.

If you press and hold the unlock button on your oem remote the front door windows should roll down. Hope this helps.
