Trunk not opening

Every once in a while my G will not let me into the trunk. Doesnt matter if I hit the key fob or the button on the console, the trunk will not open. Unless I am blind, there isnt a keyhole to open the trunk from outside without the keyfob. When this happens, it usually is in gear with the parking brake on. If i turn the car back on, the trunk usually works or I have to get to the trunk through the rear seats. On a normal day, it takes about 3 or 4 pushes on the keyfob for it to open. The cannot be normal. Does anybody else have this condition? I looked through the manual to see if there was any hints, but found nothing.

Eric

Re: Trunk not opening

as far as the key fob, you need to hold it down for a second or two before it pops, just a safety thing so you don't accidentally open the trunk if you press the button by mistake. no key for the trunk. have no idea about the dash button though.

Re: Trunk not opening

Sounds like the unlock mechanism in the trunk needs some adjustment. Maybe the lid is too tight when closed thereby not allowing the lock to activate easily.
Dealer time if it persists.

Re: Trunk not opening

just checked the switch, it is on. It seems to work better if I hold down the button, but that doesnt explain why sometimes I am completely locked out from the trunk.

Yes it definitely sounds like an intermitent connection. The dealer will have to look at it. G/L.

Re: Trunk not opening

Hey .. I'm glad someone had the same problem as me. It's happened twice now. I can't open the trunk from the key fob. I can't open the trunk from the switch. And I know the button in the glove compartment is on. I had to start the car to get it to work.

Man tha is funny. I had the exact thing happen to me this morning. Went to open the trunk and nothing. Had to turn the ignition on and then pop the trunk. Weird.

my trunk always opens while in gear. I park the car in gear always. If I go to the grocery I always open the trunk first to put the groceries away, always while in gear, and have never had any problems... don't think it has anything to do with being in gear.

I have a 2005 6mt and I also have intermittent issues with the truck not opening with either the key fob or the trunk release button next to the VSC. Cycling the ignition key re-enables the trunk release. Does anyone know if there is a fix? I've looked through a few threads and I haven't found one that tells of a resolution.

Thanks,
Wayno-san
