Help Me Decide

hi, my name is dan and i've been looking into buying a used G35 either the 2004 or the 2005 model .... with less than 40k miles on it ... and i have been researching and found the 05 was the refresh year... new brakes better gauges ... ext and was wondering should i spend an extra 5k on the 2005 and pay like 300 a month for insurance or pocket the 5k and spend about 200 on insurance until i hit the 3 year mark for my drivers license then WAWANESA here i come and i get like 85 a month payments of insurance... about 4 months shy of that

im 18, almost 19 and am looking for a fast car that has a decent aftermarket.

any sugestions?

thanks in advance

Get the '04 and save your money. I have an 04 and it is great even after 88k miles.

I don't think the added interior features are enough for how much more the 05 is than the 04. I got an 04 with only 26k miles on it and I have no regrets

well the "new" brakes are a downgrade and $300 a month for insurance would be enough to steer me to a different car.

with an 04, you'll just be out of factory warranty and god forbid if something went wrong, its not the cheapest car to fix up. for the money, its not fast...its just classy and clean. i have an 06 6MT, but i could care less about the speed, otherwise i wouldn't be driving the G.

not trying to kill your dreams here, but it might not be the most practical car for you right now.

oh sally, you really had to say something about speed.

Go with the 04

Exactly what I was thinking. I love my Brembos.

Especially with a $5K difference, I'd go for the '04.

'04s had Brembo Brakes available.
'04 engines were tuned for better torque (270 ft/lbs in 04 vs. 260 in 05) - though HP was less (280 HP in 04 vs. 290 in 05).

Someone else would have to verify, but I think some 05+ engines had an oil consumption issue.
