New to the forum, couple questions

Alright so i'm new to this forum. I've been a member of VW vortex for about 6 years, but its time to move on from my various vw's. I do not own a g35 quite yet, but I expect to be a proud owner in the next month. One question I have for you guys....I noticed the 03 and 04 6mt coupes have less hp yet more tq than the 05+ 6mt cpe. My question is, does the torque in the 03 and 04 compensate for the difference in hp? If you lined a stock 04 and 05 next to each other, would they pull about even? I'm just curious. I need to get rid of my jetta so I can get a G asap....anyone interested?

they will be very similar. the only reason to get a later model would be for the interior/convenience upgrades.

and warranty, lol

besides the cosmetics differences interior and exterior wise, its up to you...although some of the 05+ have the oil consumption issue because of the revup motors.

oil consumption issue?? Does that mean I will have to feed it a quart like every week? Give me a little insight here on what to expect, and thank you all for the tips

the latest info i received from my service manager was that nissan/infiniti recieved a bad batch of rings for the rev-up engine (05/06). the problem was fairly limited to certain production dates.

search oil consumption and there are a hundred threads on it. certain 05/06 engines had the issue and needed engine swaps.

Hey thanks for the response, I briefly glanced at the thread regarding oil consumption. I looked at the thumbnails on how to perform an oil consumption test. Does this mean that all '05 and '06 g35 coupe 6mt will have the OC problem, or just a few within that year of production will have the problem? To my current understanding, during those production years its either hit or miss. I'm hoping I do not get a G35 with this problem. Is there any timetable for when this oil consumption problem surfaces? Say for example, if I purchase a '05 coupe 6mt with 40k miles and it hasn't had a problem, would I be in the clear?

very very few have the problem. and although it is a long process, infiniti can install you a new engine. dont worry about OC when your buying a coupe. Id say go for an 06+ for the exterior upgrades and the interior.

Hey guys, thanks a lot for the info. I will post pictures when I get the G. I will keep a close eye on my oil to see if I have the OC issue, hopefully I wont though. What type of aftermarket catback exhaust do you guys prefer? I definitely like the stock exhaust tone, but for something as subtle and a bit more throaty, I really really like the stillen exhaust.
