Look for broken, rocking seats... Leather tears in drivers seat in left rear corner (I've seen this on a few used ones we looked at). Check the sound system fading and balance and CD changer (make sure all that works properly or get them to discount the car so you can replace it...
Have them show all oil change receipts and\or history to be sure the oil has been changed on time.
Start the engine when completely cold and be sure to listen for any 'ticking' for the first few seconds (if it ticks, don't buy it (I've run across some of these on used lots and that means wear from improper lubrication which could be very expensive for you down the road)...

Oh yeah; one very important thing... Look closely under car and hood for signs of major body damage\repair... If it was crashed hard, you will be able to tell if you look. Take a good look at a G that has never been wrecked and get a good visual of what things should look like.

Also make sure fuel gauge reads correctly and that you can fill up the tank to full. Some have had issues with the fuel shutter valve, and the fuel tank sending unit(s). There are TSB's for these.

As for pads, if you drive in rainy or wintry climate (at least some of the year) stick with the OEM pads. I have heard that the Project Mu NS have good cold bite as well, but I've never used them so can't verify.

- rear axle click, usually upon initial acceleration (another TSB)
- on the way out door lock actuators
- make sure seats are in good shape
- chips in paint
- tires

If you are looking at one w/ the brembo pkg., make sure that you realize that when the rotors and pads go, you will need $3,000 for an OEM dealer brake job! My pads last about 25k-30k miles, and the OEM rotors lasted about 60k. They recommended that I change when they were at 48k miles, but I've never had any pulsation, noise, etc., so I waited. You cannot grind these rotors becuase they are very thin to begin with. Each rotor costs about $500, and the pads are about $400.
I also had the drivers seat replaced a couple times because of squeaks, rear axle squeak, fuel door actuator break (all under warranty). I have 75k miles on my '03 now.

oh yeah, and the clutch slave cylinder had to be changed a few times when I was complaining that the clutch squeaked when pressed and depressed. There is a flywheel chatter that you might hear when car is in neutral---but I heard that is very common.

Does anyone know, if the warranty covers "abnormal" wear on a rotor? Also, for the leather ripping issue. It seems to be that it is a factory defect correct? Would that be covered as well?

They offered a 3yr - 36,000 mile warranty on the automatic brakes only.
If there is excessive wear, they will try to pin that on you and your driving habits.
The leather ripping and seat bottom collapsing issues are taken care of under warranty. I had my seat bottom replaced due to a failing foam seat cushion.
They replaced the foam cushion and new leather seat bottom for my drivers seat. And they fixed the rocking seat problem while they were at it.

Window motors failing is another problem with most year coupes as well.
Also, they had a recall on the early coupes for gas tank vent hose problems.
Make sure they did this recall as well.

If you own the Brembo package don't worry too much the calipers are compatible with a variety of pads. I have wagner pads all around and my front rotors are non-Brembo.
The CD player head unit with the Bose system is also prone to cutting out. In my case I lost sound in my drivers side speaker bank when playing CD's, the cure is a replacement unit.

bad actuators suck they cost about $700-800 to replace both doors. i remember mine acting up by pushing the door lock/unlock button (on car or remote) and it not opening/closing every time. good luck.
