Risque Photos

Now that I have your attention...quick question.

I have had my G for over a month now and I notice that when I am pulling into a parking space or going slow and coming to a stop that my brake(s) squeak or there is a noise similar to this I hear. Any thoughts, suggestions? It does not happen all the time.

Re: Risque Photos

Well, my first thought would be to go to the Wheels/Brakes forum and post something with a title similar to "brakes squeeling." You could also search for that topic and find at least a dozen threads that already answer that question.

It could be that there's a little dust buildup on the rotors. This happens when you only use the brakes lightly or they just sit for awhile. Try a couple of moderate-hard stops from speed, and that should clean off any dust or surface rust, and the squealing at low speeds may go away.

And next time, the least you could do is actually attach a photo.

Re: Risque Photos

Ok, sorry no photo. Thanks for the advice. I will try both (search and breaking).

I did post at the Wheel/Tire/Brake forum and no one wrote. That is why I changed the subject line.

Re: Risque Photos

Someone else once posted this same complaint with their new G's brakes squealing -- and I replied "Don't worry, brakes will squeal when they're very new or very old... it will go away eventually" (...on my new G that happened in the first week or so but it has now gone away -- same with two former newcars I bought)

But, someone else posted a reply to me that said that his G had a "design problem" with the brake pads according to his dealer. His brakes are apparently still squealing. So maybe I'm wrong?

I would tell my service advisor at the first scheduled maintenance if it is still there by then.

Re: Risque Photos

You're dealer should install a new "brake pad kit" My dealer installed new pads in the rear, and now i am free of Noise and also...less to almost no brake dust, even though there isnt much dust on the rear wheels anyway, its a noticeable difference.

Re: Risque Photos

Are your brakes brembos?

I've heard from many people that squeeling is just one of the things you have to deal with when you have brembos.

Even my dealer warned me before i left the dealership, he told me not to worry about the squeeling; it's just what brembos do.

Re: Risque Photos

My brembos have been squeaking and squealing for aslong as I had my car. Brought it back to the dealer and they resurfaced the rotors and applied anti-squeal for the pads. Didn't help. 14,000 miles now and they still are noisy as hell. I got used to it, sadly.

Re: Risque Photos

my brakes were squealing too. i think its just dust on the rotors or something. try a series of hard braking from a mediocre speed. 3-4 times should be fine. mine used to squeak but now they're ok.

Re: Risque Photos

Ah, u just brought back good memories. I was surprised to see how well they did in the 2002 World Cup tournament. Hopefully they'll be able to repeat their performance at 2006 or even better, win the tourney(highly doubtful but hey, u never know).

Re: Risque Photos

My brembos made the squeaking noise as well. That is until after a couple of thousand miles when I figured they must be broken well, I slammed on the breaks a few times from about 75 mph. That must have finished seating the pads, because they have almost never squeaked since.
