7500K service worth it @ $125

Guys,
I'm thinking about taking my car into the dealership for the 7500K mile service.. I have about 12k miles on my coupe.
The service guy told me that they do an oil change and check the brakes (clean them) and balance my tires.. It seem a bit of a rip off since I could do the oil change myself and I could also clean off my brakes with out a problem.. I do have a ubrupt noise from my brembos every once in a while that I would like them to check out, but this should be covered under my normal warranty rigth?
Your opinion would be appreiciated.
thanks

depends on what it is. Brakes on the 6mt are typically not covered under warranty.

I would skip the $125 service and chage the oil yourself. I honestly don't think the tires would be out of balance in that amount of time, and even if they were, i doubt having them rebalanced would help with wear any....unless you are having some vibration in the steering wheel.

right. I'd wait until you hit 15K before taking it in for service. Do as much as you can yourself before you go in such as changing the oil to save as much money as possible. Also, if you don't have any windshield wiper fluid, go get a .99 bottle and top off your reservoir. My dealership still tried to charge me $3.95 to top mine off even though it was full before I took it in.

In terms of the brembo noise, they should look at that under warranty anyway.

$125 is way too much for the 7500 mile service. I asked for the 7500 mile service when my car was at 7500 miles and the dealer mechanic told me all I really needed is an oil change and wait until at least the next service to check the brakes. He told me there's no real need to pay money to get my brakes checked at that point.

My dealer said the tire balancing was up to me. I felt no vibration so I skipped it. With a dealer coupon I spent 35.00 plus tax. Basically it was an oil change, inspection, and road test.

Your brakes are absolutely covered under warranty. My salesman told me that since the 2003's came out and a lot of people are complaining about premature brake wear, infiniti has included the brakes in the 30000 warranty. That includes pads and rotors. They replace rotors because supposedly there is a very low tolerance for machining them and they can only be put on a lathe once or twice.

Infiniti specifically excludes the 6MT Coupe (Brembo brakes) from the special brake warranty.

You may want to check your manual if the 7500 (7500k is 7,500,000) mile checkup is required to keep your warranty. You may be denied warranty service if you can't prove you've taken care of the car (regular maintenance). I believe if you keep track of performing your own oil changes, etc... it's probably ok.

Stupid question, but my navi tells me that I need to take my car in for an oil change. If I get it done elsewhere, is the computer going to be aware that the job was done? Or is that something that can only be done by Infiniti?

You can reset the NAV maintenance schedule yourself. No connection to any computer in the car. It's the Dealer's record that determines whether or not you've done maintenance.Keep records if you do it yourself!
