So after reading this I went and check mine out.... Sure enough #6 was filled half way. My question is, I have a 04 coupe with 34k on it. Is this out of warrenty period? I bought the car used and have no idea about the warrenty for infinti as this is my first one. I don't mind doing the work myself but I don't want to pay the 200+ dollars for the valve cover

I would guess your out of warranty but check with a dealership first, the previous owner may have had an extended warranty.

I know this sounds cheep but would throwing a little RTV on it work till I feel like dropping $250 on the valve cover work?

Ahh I see a cheaper fix for this

It's been awhile since I have been back to see where this thread has grown.

I suggest you look at my 2 posts about this issue.
This is nothing new and not just exclusive to the G35. I have not looked at a GTR engine but I will bet you a dollar they will start seeing this exact same issue.

As I said read my posts on this issue.

If you are hearing clicking sounds I bet you that's the spark plug arcing from the oil that has climed up the spark plug boot.

It's not good, don't ignore it. This was the exact same thing that happened with my SHO.
It destroyed one coil on my coil pack. It cost me about $200 bucks to replace the coil pack. $200.00 to replace the spark plug wires.

Call me crazy, call me I don't know what I am talking about. All you have to do is pull your spark plug wires and inspect them. Take a cotton swab or a pipe cleaner and shove it up there. If it comes out coated in oil there is your clicking problem.

My 2006 coupe has 64k miles and I smell burnt oil. That means I have oil in my spark plug wells.
My nose has been calibrated to smell oil, Transmissons fluid and Anti Freeze.

Yup my 2003 Coupe at 80k miles had the same problem on spark plug 1 and 6...Never got a chance to get it under the warranty so I got screwed. My car is burning 3 quarts per 300 miles. FML. Engine rebuild time.

Sorry I'm new here and just got a G35, I'm going to be changing my spark plugs soon and wondering if I see oil around the spark plugs can't I just change the gasket myself and save $$? If so, is there a DIY link that anyone knows?

At 1st, I thought they could be the belts, but as I listened, I could hear the belts alone. This sound was something else. I've gotten the OC test done twice and of course, I pass with no issues found. Please check out the vid below and chime in please. Let me know your thoughts.

I had CIN Motorsports change the valve covers to the Nissan Maxima ones about 1000 miles ago. So far, everything is perfect. Make the switch and be done with this forever.
