This is my first post here, although I do lurk this board occasionally. I have both the S2000 and G35C 6mt so I thought I share my opinion with you folks.

Its true that a S2K is pretty slow off the line unless you drop the clutch at an insane 6k+ rpms. With that said, I'm not at all surprised that the G35 was ahead after only 50 mph. However, if the race continued to 100+, it probably be neck and neck (driver's race).

 

So are you saying that the S2K didn't actually race or didn't actually challenge me.. So tell me, my friend, what color was the car? What was the guys name? Do you know him personally? What kind of tires did he have? What was the driver's name?
(get my point?)
Also your scenario regarding the Ferrari is nothing like what happened at the time. That is a drastic exaggeration in comparison.

Guys, guys ...settle down. This may blow you both away-- forget the S2000 and the Ferrari -- I just smoked a Lamborghini Diablo!

Here's my story. I'm on my way to work with my girlfriend who I'm dropping off at her office. We're first car at a red light in the left lane. I look over to the right as a green Diablo (coulda been a Murcieliago...?) pulls up beside me, and then a yellow van beside him in the far right lane.

The Diablo starts revving... so immediately I shut off the VDC, stereo and climate control, and I roll down the window to toss out some junk I've got in the back seat. I asked my girlfriend to get out of the car. "What?" she asks. "C'mon honey, the lights gonna turn green! Here's some bus fare, I'll make it up to you later... you're just too heavy!"

Geez, did she have to slam the door so hard?? (Women!)

Anyway, the light turns green and all three of us -- me, the Lambo and the yellow van beside him -- we all surge off the line at the same time. The funny thing is, the yellow van kept up with us neck and neck... but finally I pulled away from both of them by at least four or five car lengths.

Later, I pulled into a drive-through to grab a coffee and they were both there, so I snapped a pic. I'll post it later.
Another kill for the G!! I smoked a Lamborghini!!

Man, I was on cloud nine all day!

takuyaah, i think Kaboom was not making this post to show off that he can beat a S2K, else he didn't have to mention the "he was behind me" part. i see the whole post and i think he was just making fun of someone who is really kocky while stupid enough to try to pick up a race when he's behind him. What's the big deal?!

If talking about adv/disadvantage, there won't be no kill. Think about this way, if G35C beat a stock civic, is that a kill or not? By your definition, it is not a kill becuz the G35C got 280hp while Civic with maybe 130, clearly civic has great disadvantage here. Drag racing is not like racing in a track dude. Official track competition will never put different class or speed car together and start at the same point and call it a race to eliminate the "disadvantage" and make it fun to watch. (You won't see they put a civic to race with a ferrari on the track, would you?) On the other hand, drag racing is about "agreement between the two", one challenge and another accepting. If someone is brave and stupid enought to try to pick up a race behind someone, then it is a race, the challenger accept the "disadvantages" and willing to take the chance! Just like a stock Civic reving his engine and look at you at the stop light with the eyes goes "let's race!". In this case, the Civic driver accept the disadvantage that it is short of maybe 150hp and 130 torque, and that is drag racing. By all mean, in drag racing, if someone challenge, he is the one who is willing to accept his disadvantage and continue with the race! Is a G35 beating the hell out of stock Civic a kill? If it is, then Kaboom beat the S2K with the S2K driver accepting his disadv and reving his engine to challenge is a kill. This has nothing to do with S2K or G35 which car is faster, i'd say stock vs stock it'd be a close race.

In the ferrari example, if the ferrari driver call in to the radio station and announce "the civic with stickers 200 m in front of me, i am going to smoke you", but lost, then it's a kill, you can say a ferrari challenge you with disadvantage and you beat him, not becuz civic is faster or you are a good driver, it's becuz that ferrari driver is an idiot and so is the S2K guy in Kahboom case, but either way, in drag racing, if one challenged, he is the one accepting his disadvantage (just like in the civic vs g35 case accepting he only got 130hp), and if he lost, it's a kill.

OK, dude, one quick question, if a ferrari beat a civic on a street, is that a kill? If your answer is yes, you are clearly contradicting yourself, becuz by USING your definition, any car that has disadvantage in drag racing is not a race. Then isn't 300hp difference a huge disadvantage for civic? READ BEFORE YOU POST!!! This is not track or official competition, this is drag racing dude! One challenge and accept all the disadvantage (like civic challenging G35C and accept it has 150 less hp), and that's a race! The S2K is stupid enough to take the risk and try, then that's his problem.

 

well..if a ferarri vs a civic..i think its ok if given the situation is fair...(track..red light..whatever)...even if i contradict it..and it is not a kill...THAT PROVES MY POINT MAN..my point is..if there's such a HUGE disadvantage,,dun come out and say something like.."i smoked it" or anything..and no..i didn't race a ferarri or anything..it was just to mock someone who trying to claim something so stupid

 

I think that it is grossly apparent who is making the stupid/contradictory remarks here. Finish your education dude, you'll need it.

I took Khaboom position right off the bat. If there was some sort of logical argument being presented by Takuyaah, then I lost it after the first few words.
