I've had the coupe for 1 yr, 4 months and the wife has driven it once down to the store. She did very well, since her previous cars were 91 RX-7 5mt, 93 Acura Legend Coupe 6mt, and 98 Z3 5mt.
Now she wants to try out the drag strip!

I was thinking of getting a light flywheel & clutch, this may be the perfect opportunity to get one, after she burns the stock one up.
(just kidding honey)

 

I allow her to drive it, but grudgingly. Actually, she drives it quite well, but nevertheless, its mine. And without memory seats, its always a drag getting the seat back in the right position for me. I've allowed her to take it out by herself once. Once it a while is ok, in the interest of marital harmony.

My wife has never wanted to drive mine. She doesn't even like to ride in it much. She has been driving SUV's for so long, she's not comfortable unless she is sitting up high. It wouldn't bother me though if she grabbed the keys now and then.

I've taught my girlfriend how to drive stick on my G for a little while...but I understand where you're coming from...I want to be the one putting most if not all the miles on my coupe =)

My wife can drive it if she wants. I have had the car since Sept of last year and she is yet to drive it. She has more than one small mishap in her cars, basketball poles 3 days after a brand new SUV, mailbox 1 month after the 2 SUV, scratched rims 3 weeks after new Minivan, and now a small dent (shopping cart?) on the van less than a year old. Oh I forgot rear ending someone with the first SUV(no airbag deployment). I guess you can see why she hasn't driven my car - I told her she can, but I think my insurance agent has threaten her behind my back.

I'm 26 with no wife or gf here and not looking, but I wouldn't let my friends drive my G35 unless I rode with them, on Sunday morning, in the neighborhood, slowly, from the driveway into the garage.

 

i let my mom drive mine once. it was so funny looking cause she drives like a grandma. she had the seat raise all the way up and the seat back vertical.

How do you pull that off? If my dad ever paid for a car of mine and was not allowed to drive it.....i figured i'd get my *** beat by both my parents!!

Same goes for my future son----if they don't let me drive a car that *I* bought, i don't care what's considered "good parenting", i'd beat the s$$t out of him!

 

My wife and I share it. I drive it three of the five days to work. I have a long commute and she dosent work, so it helps keep the mileage down.

Technically I would let my wife drive my coupe since when we bought it I said she'll drive it once in a while to help conserve gas (she has a much shorter drive than me each day). In reality, she has only drove it maybe 3-4 times in 6 months. For one thing I always feel like driving the coupe (crossed 10,000 miles in around 6 month! [img]/w3timages/icons/tongue.gif[/img]), but also she's not really interested in driving it anyway. So it kind of works out well for me. Except that my car will probably end up being a very high mileage car since I can't stop driving it. But I figure life is too short anyway.[img]/w3timages/icons/laugh.gif[/img]

I'm in a similar situation as MrExclusive. I paid for close to half, parents are paying off the rest. My Dad who drove MT's for a good part of his younger years(back then, in South Korea they only have MT's in cars unless you were rich and could afford "new" cars with autos) won't even go near the driver's seat of my G. I think he's afraid that he might damage it or break something. haha. Anyways, I can safely say that no one in my family(dad, mom, older bro) will ever drive my car unless it's in an emergency situation...then my dad would probably be the only one since he's the only one that knows how to drive MT.
