Hood Problematic
Hey guys, not sure if anyone else has this problem but my hood is rubbing on my quarter panel when i pop it and push it up... not cool because it is scratching the paint a bit on the edge of the quarter panel where the points meet at the corner... i don't have a picture to show because i am traveling for work and don't have my car around but i saw it happening this week and sometimes its hard to open the hood... anyone else with this problem! Thanks!
i have the same problem too! it sucks to pop the hood. the corner of the hood on the driver side hits the corner where it meets the fender/door. the body lines seem to line up right. im going to get my bumber repainted and was going to see if the show could fix it.
Had the same problem; went to my body shop, my buddy came out and said all G's do this after awhile (Damn!) He grabbed and started adjusting the hood, then grabbed the fenders one at a time and pulled a little here and there... Then closed the hood with no touching. He said in time the car will adjust back and it will need a re-adjustment. He said bring it in an he will take care of the paint chipped at the fender and hood where they were rubbing. He calls it body flexing and says many cars do it.
He said he adjusts all G's that come in as a courtesy to customers as they tend to become tight in that area over time... That seems like allot of body flexing to me.
Hood closes fine again now.

all you need to do is adjust the hood. I bet if you check, you'll see one side has more clearance that the other. It's really easy to adjust, just loosen all of the bolts, reposition the hood, and done.
No need to loosen any bolts... Everything up there is light weight and can me adjusted with slight force.

Bull****! You will not damage the hinges with reasonable force! Comon man, you would need to really bend the hell out of the hinges to do damage to them... I have witnessed the adjustment done to MY G35 and I'm very happy with the results and have NO damage.
Do whatever you want; it's your time and money, but there is NO need to loosen anything. When you start breaking the paint on these bolts and move the hinges around you invite corrosion. A slight adjustment is better IMO.
