good s2k driver he should win, as the other guy said if he does not get a great launch you should be ahead. I ran against one w/ a ok driver and we were even.

from 0-60, the G is faster, plus we've got a lot more horsepower than the S2000. I've seen the best motoring video where they tested the G35, S2000, RX-8 and some other cars, where the G35 had better acceleration, but the S2000 still won because of their superior cornerings.

I can't recall the mag (Motor Trend, C and D, Automobile?), but when the S2000 first came out, one of the early reviews talked about how difficult it was to get a fast 0-60.

The driver had to drop the clutch at motorcycle-type, Formula 1 screaming revs -- ONLY then could he elicit the kind of performance (mid-5's 0-60, low-14's 1/4 mile) that you hear about with that car. So, more than with most (comparable to the G), I think this would be a driver's race.

Quoted from Robertc81:
"plus we've got a lot more horsepower than the S2000"

Robertc81-
There was this dude named Isaac Newton in the 17th century who said that force = mass*acceleration. The G35c has 40 extra horsepower but a whopping 400lbs of extra weight. It's meaningless to point out a horsepower advantage without considering weight.

I own a G35 sedan auto and a S2K. I've posted this before, but the Honda is a nightmare too launch and IMO the G would take it every time. I've been driving MT's since I was seventeen and in the S2K you have too push & shift this bastard too the max too get optimal performance.

You also have to consider the powerband and the circumstances under which you are competing. (i.e. high speed/ low speed etc)

Re: S2K vs G35c Auto?

Having owned an '02 S2K and now an '04 G35 6MT Coupe, I know the S2K can out sprint the G. However, to do so, you must learn a different style of driving. To get the most out of the S2K, you have to get used to shifting at 8500+ RPMs (less on the '04 models). This takes a lot of getting used to. But, once you redline (wind out) 1st gear, all other gears end up within the BEAUTIFUL land of VTEC.

With the low amount of low-end torque, the best launch in an S2K is acheived by reving the engine into what most consider the stratosphere (6500+ RPMs). This will allow the ultra sticky tires (and man are they amazing) to slip, allowing for some tire spin (which is necessary in almost all cars to attain their best respective launches).

Both are GREAT cars. The S2K is more designed as an all-out, razor-edged race/sports car. The G35 is more of a luxo-power car.

Try tearing into an S2K (for a test drive). It is a blast!

I would make a comment, but after a recent defeat by a E55 on a freeway onramp, I think I'll be quiet for awhile. (no, we weren't racing, but he passed me pretty effortlessly)
