Well the code came back last night after havin the code cleared by autozone so now I'm goin to throw the stock intake back on to see if the code stays on. If it does.....Then I dont know what to do! I did have the car turned to the on position when the intake tube was off and watched the throttle body do its little test.

Clean your MAF sensor with rubbing alcohol... Use a cotton pad or something.

NO I was very carefull with the MAF cuz I know how sensitive they are. But judging at how bad the stock filter looked when I removed it, I think it is safe to say that his car had never had a new filter in it with 15,000 miles on it when he bought it.

new oil type filters come with tons of oil, on start up u could have got some oil on the mass air flow, i have seen this before on E46's. thats my guess?

LOL This might sound dumb but is the MAF pointing the right way? I installed it upside down two years ago on a friends G35(an Intake) and it caused a CEL to come up, flipped it and it went away. HAHA

Did you try resetting the throttle body? How many miles are on the car? Could be a faulty O2 sensor that happened to go out at the same time you were installing the intake. I have seen weider things.

dont keep reseting the ecu...no matter how many times that code will keep coming up....you gotta fix the problem...to me it sounds like your friend might have a leak somewhere past the mafs and def check the vaccum line and if now that he could have a faulty o2 sensor
